"I'm not understanding though..."I said
"Hm..." Kennedy said "Maybe you can-"
"Guys!"Luke said as he ran up to our table in the library.
"Shh."Others said
"Oh shut up," Luke said
"What's up?"Kennedy asked
"Okay so there is this party this Friday and I heard Sky1 saying he was gonna go," Luke said
"Okay, so what are you trying to get at?"I asked
"We go to the party and ya know get him, "Luke said
"Luke that's crazy," I said
"Come on, do y'all actually want to stop him or is it just me?"Luke asked
"I'm not opposed to it," Kennedy said
"So what do you say, Shawn, "Luke said
I rolled my eyes and groaned. "Fine, but if we get caught then that's our ass," I said
"Okay got it, byeee, "Luke said as he walked out of the library.
"Alright so back to what we were doing," Kennedy said
"Yeah...right," I said
"So you just-" I interrupted Kennedy because I couldn't stop myself from thinking about last night.
"Kennedy, why did you do that last night?"I said
"Shawn I like you that's why, and I thought it was a great time to make a move," Kennedy said
"Because I've been thinking about you a lot lately, and that might sound weird now that I'm saying it," I said
"Me too, we lived together for so long and then we just separate."Kennedy said "And I'm just curious what are we moving forward?"He asked
"I want to move forward with you a hundred percent but I lowkey think that we were kind of forced to be close to each other."I said, "I think we need to see if our feelings for each other are still there even though we aren't going to live together anymore."I said
"How about we go out today then," Kennedy said
"Like a date?"I asked
"Like a date."He said with a smile
Once school was over I texted my brother and told him I was going to ride home with Kennedy. We left the school and drove for a short time since where we were going was just in town I was assuming. We then parked in a really weird place on the side of the road.
"You're taking me to a barber shop?"I asked
"No," Kennedy said as he laughed. "We're gonna walk to where I'm taking you."He said
"Why?"I asked
"Fresh air."He said, "Now get out."He said as he got out of the car.
"Alrighty," I said as I got out of the car.
We walked down the street and I started the admire the beauty of the town. I've never really acknowledged how much I love where I live. Although Ciara, Florida is a very weird place considering I know over five people with superpowers.
We arrived at an ice cream shop, and at first, I was confused but I just went with it. We walked in and waited in the relatively short line. Once we got to the front of the line my eyes lit up immediately by seeing all the flavors.
"Oh my god," I said
Kennedy laughed and looked at me. "Have you never been to an ice cream shop?"He asked
"No, it's always been Walmart ice cream," I said
"That's fair."Kennedy said, "I'll get Butter Pecan."He said
Interesting flavor choice.
"Uhh, I'll get strawberry cheesecake," I said
I then began to open my phone case so I can grab my card, but when I looked back up Kennedy had already paid for both of ours and had both ice creams in his hand.
"Why'd you pay already?"I asked
"Because."Kennedy said "And cute phone case."He said
I looked down at my white phone case with pink stars on it. Was it really cute? I hadn't realized but he had already walked away and sat at a table. I put my card back in my phone case and rushed over to the table.
"Thanks for paying by the way," I said
"No problem," Kennedy said as he handed me my ice cream and spoon.
"So tell me about how you grew up," I said
"Well I was born here and I didn't know I had powers until I was about ten."He said, "My dad was a Vigilante or superhero as well and when he found out I had powers he started training me."He said "But when I was eleven my mom got held hostage, and that's what caused both my parents to die, but you know my dad is living now."He said
"I'm so sorry..."I said
"It's alright, it's just I wish it didn't happen when I was so young."He said as he exhaled and started his next sentence"But yeah then when I was about thirteen I met Luke because I caught him using his powers."He said, "What about you?"He said as he took a bite of his ice cream.
"Well, I was also born here, and my family always had a good chunk of change in their pocket, but me and my brother were never spoiled."I said, "Me and Luke had been friends since elementary school."I said, "I lived a pretty boring and normal life up until now and I'm glad about that."I said
"What about our first impressions of each other," Kennedy said as he finished his ice cream.
"Well no offense didn't stick out to me, but I always wanted to know more about you."I said, "You always just interested me."I said
"Well, I knew about you before you knew about me."Kennedy said, "Luke would always tell me about you, and I would always kind of observe you from afar."He said, "Not like stalker creepy thing, but like whenever I saw you I would kind of just make a mental note ya know?"He said
"Yeah," I said as I finished my ice cream.
"You have a little," Kennedy said as he pointed to the corner of my lip.
I then grabbed a napkin and tried getting it.
"No like- wait but go over-"
"Did I get it?!"I said
"No Shawn like you- let me see," Kennedy said as he grabbed the napkin and patted the spot. I stared directly at him as he did this. "There."He said as he looked up into my eyes.
"Well uh, now what, "I said as I looked away.
"I would love to do more, but I assume we should head home," Kennedy said
"Alrighty," I said as I got up and threw my ice cream cup into the trash can.
