“Shit.. Shit!!” A little, slightly transparent, ghost-like man sprinted to the cover of some thick bushes trees as thick, wet drops of liquid fell from the cotton-like clouds above the remains of L'manberg and Logstedshire. (My apologies about possible spelling errors.)
“Ouch..” The small ghost spoke, his void-like eyes somehow showing sadness and slight pain. He cowered against the tree trunk, sliding down into a sitting position with his knees drawn close to his chest where a stained blue cut lay across his sweater.
The Ghost stayed there for a while, humming little tunes to himself as he watched thick droplets fall from the edge of the tree's large leaves. He simply watched, his own eyes streaming with constant tears that he couldn't control in any way. They sort of just poured all of the time. Thank god they didn't burn him or he would be in excruciating pain all the time.
Occasionally, a droplet would fall through the trees and land onto the ghost, causing him to yelp in pain and smooth over the area gently. Although he loved being there in the ruins of L'manberg, he always had a nudging temptation to get somebody to revive him. Get somebody to stop the pain he always got when something happened that he couldn't control that hurt him mentally or physically.. sometimes both. “When will this rain stop..” The ghost muttered softly, staring up sadly at the think downfall.
“Hey.. Ghostbur, You ok?” A familiar voice appeared from behind the tree the ghost was leaned against. “Huh? Oh.. Quackity... Yeah, I'm ok.. I'm just waiting for this dreaded rain to stop to allow me to leave from under this tree..” Ghostbur replied, his void like eyes staring up at the Mexican.
“I have an umbrella.. You could leave with me..?” He suggested, but Ghostbur was focused on the thing strapped onto his back. “Is that a guitar..?” Ghostbur questioned, ignoring Quackity's offer. “Yeah! I brought it just incase I found you sheltered in the rain!” Quackity admitted, blushing slightly at the end of his sentence. “For me..?” Ghostbur asked again, blushing a pale blue. Quackity simply nodded.
“Pass it to me..” He spoke softly, reaching out to grab the guitar. The duck pulled the guitar from off of his back and unzipped the case to reach inside for the guitar, passing it to the little ghost. “Come, come sit down next to me!” Ghostbur smiled.
They sat next to eachother, ghostbur gently strumming a soft tune on the delicate strings. He began to sing along, Quackity soon recognising the song to be one of Ghostbur's own.
La Jolla.
“You know it takes a lot to move me.. So if you figure it out, tell me...” Quackity listened intently. “I'll trace figures on your smile lines.. Work out a formulae to cure me..”
♪
Quackity listened, occasionally humming along as he laid his head onto the ghost's cold shoulder.
“And I'm lonely..”
“There I said it.. Nine million people..
I always seem to add them up..”
Quackity listened and slowly fell into a pleasureful sleep as he hummed along, Ghostbur's echoed voice a comfort to his mind, his cold to the touch skin cooling on his cheek and his slow, soft strumming sweet and calculated.
Although the rain had by far stopped now, none of the two wanted to move in their comfortable bliss of eachother's company.
Gently, Ghostbur moved to wrap his arms around Quackity, giving an occasional scratch to the duck's soft, golden wings to show affection. They cuddled, Ghostbur planting soft kisses on the shorter's forehead, caressing his raven hair and his golden wings.
