...Knock, knock, knock... came the sound of a knock at the door in the middle of the night.

If it had been any other day, I might have been happy that 'he' thought of me, but today was different.

...Creak... I opened the door.

Outside the door stood a tall and imposing figure in a tailored suit who was standing there, staring at me with cold, distant eyes.

I suppressed the pain in my heart, forcing a smile, and went to open the door so 'he' could come in.

His indifferent face remained motionless. To him, my words were probably akin to the sound of wind blowing in his ears...a nuisance.

He stood up and looked at me silently for a long while, then spoke his last words to me,

"There's no need to stay in touch. But if you're really in trouble, call Phop, he'll solve any problem for you."

Then he quietly left the room.

I watched on as the door closed slowly behind him. Even though I wanted to cry and beg while hugging his legs helplessly, thus leaving behind my honour and my dignity, all I could do was watch that door close behind him, and let him leave me quietly...
