Forest Lost in Time

Component Three: The Forest

Willa walked throughout the forest. There were baby trees or Aspen, Pine, and oak, with the sun slightly glimmering through the leaves and branches. She never knew it was so beautiful. She saw little ladybugs, monarch butterflies, and something they had learned about in school called the 'Queen Butterfly'. Then, ending her perfect moment of wonder was the low growl again. She walked towards the sound, each step the growl getting louder. Until she hears Logan calling out for her, so she walked out of the forest. Ending right next to her house 'i didn't go far? I'll tell him I was walking around.'  "Willa!" Logan said surprised as she walked towards him. Slightly dazed, "What? How did you get there when you went there before?"

"Oh I was just- walking around a little." She replied, lying straight to his face.

"Oh... Ok!" "I know there's still a couple hours but I just wanted to tell you I saw Harriet and Gwen walking to the forest a few minutes ago." Logan spoke calmly.

"THEY WHAT?! LOGAN!" She yelled running past him.

"Wait Willa!" Logan said, sighing loudly when she didn't stop. Willa ran around the whole town. But she couldn't find them anywhere. Then panic started to settle in, deep within her mind. She then, for the second time, ran into the forest full speed. Everyone around her were worried, for she was yelling her sister and Gwen's name while running everywhere. They watched and yelled for her not to go. She went anyways. Not taking a second to reconsider, she was too concerned with the safety of her sister and her friend. She started to slow down trying to slow her thoughts and calm down. Then she hears a growl like the one before, and her calmness was  over. She sprinted towards the growl. Running through leaves, branches, and vines. When she stopped again deep in the forest.

"Where am I?" She questioned out loud, as her heart beat began to beat flounder and faster. Then she heard the growl and fait voices half a mile Infront of her. She ran the fastest she could. Her lungs started to burn and every muscle in her body started to ache. She then came to a huge bush that went all the way to her waist. Maybe that would have been easy to go through if there weren't thorns throughout the whole bush. There was no way around it. The trees were too close and too thick to pass. The only way was to go through. She tried to avoid the thorns as best as best as she could, but it nearly impossible. She had gotten a few cuts, not deep enough to be fatal or seriously concerning. She made it through to see Harriet and Gwen with some creature in front of them growling. Willa was taken aback, her heart stopping. She was scared but that didn't last. She had to save them even if it meant her getting hurt or worse. She picked up a branch that had a bunch of thorns from the ground. She walked quietly, putting her pointer finger to her lips to shush the girls. They nodded as Willa was directly behind the strange creature. She then swung the branch with all her might. It yelped, quickly turning around and deeply growling. "RUN GIRLS! GO!" Willa yelled as she was trying to dodge the creatures swinging claws.

"NO WILLA! I CAN'T LEAVE YOU!" Harriet yelled with tears in her eyes holding onto Gwen.

"I CAN HANDLE IT I PROMISE! NOW GO! NOW!" Willa yelled with so much anger and force in her voice that it made Harriet and Gwen flinch. With that the girls ran as they heard the animal yelp out in pain. When they got out, Logan crapped them and pulled them back as they breathed heavily.

"Harriet! Gwen! Are you guys ok?" Logan said, embracing them into a secure and tight bear hug.

"Y-y-yeah." They stuttered in unison.

"Wait." Logan said breaking the hug, " Where's Willa?" He said looking behind them to see if she was there. She was not. As he said her name Harriet broke out into loud sobs, holding tightly onto Logan. Suddenly, there was a pound screech, everyone near covered their ears tightly. Then a pure, unsettling silence that could make anyone fear the unknown, fear what could come next, and it did...

Woah, that was quite a long chapter! 😅. But it's one of my favorites, it actually won a contest and got published in my school paper! So it's one of my faves. Anywho, idk how many chapters there are gonna be, so far I'm only on chapter nineish idk. Good day readers
