—Gabriel's POV—Looking at himself in the mirror, something felt off. It wasn't just the fact he looked as he used to, there was something about him inside that felt wrong.
Ever since Angela had been taking care of him his wounds had all healed up, a couple of scars here and there but nothing like it was.
He sighed and ran his fingers through his own hair. He was anxious. Today was the day they were going to rescue Jack at Talon.
Sure, Gabriel was thrilled of the thought of getting Jack back safe and sound from Talon, but he feared that wasn't going to be the case.
But that didn't mean he wasn't going to try.
He looked at his reflection in sadness. The last time he remembers himself looking normal like this was back in his and Jack's younger days.
Back when his life was actually fairly normal. Back before he screwed everything up.
He had left Overwatch and made a side-branch of Overwatch called Blackwatch, but it just ended up distancing him and Jack and causing problems between them.
He wished he would've never even created it now.
After seeing Jack so much in the past couple of days, it made his heart sting of loneliness now that it had been a while since he had seen him.
Even if it hadn't been very long at all, it felt like months to Gabriel. The little bit of time him and Jack has had together meant everything to him.
He turned away from the mirror, he was done with his own self pity and was ready to save the person he loves the most, and would do anything to protect them.
"Okay so everyone knows the plan, correct?" Angela said to everyone; Gabriel, Ana, Sojourn, and Reinhardt.
"Yes! We go in and smash everything and everyone in our way!" Reinhardt shouted proud that they would be successful.
Sojourn rubbed her temples. "I didn't come back to get killed by running in without thinking." She said, irritated.
"I came to help Jack, because Jack has saved my life before. Back during the omnic-crisis." She finished, with a look of sorrow in her eyes.
Gabriel looked at her, and remembered how well her and Jack got along. All until she left Overwatch when all of the backlash started.
Jack never wanted her to go, they were so close. They had been friends for years, always working together in missions.
Gabriel remembered comforting Jack when all of the backlash started against Overwatch, and how so many people were disbanding it.
Ana then nodded her head. "I agree. Reinhardt, remember what I used to tell you about thinking first before charging in?" She said to him softly, patting him on the shoulder.
He groaned. "Yes, yes. I understand." He said in his thick German accent, sounding a bit disappointed.
Angela looked at all of them with a glint of hope in her eyes.
"I hoped to recruit more.. but.. I know that we can do this." She said with determination.
"Together, we can do this. We just need to work together and stand strong." She finished.
Everyone smiled, a smile of anxiousness, but also of ambition and confidence. They all had one goal, and they were going to achieve that, together.
After a fairly short ride to Talon, they all got off together and got in formation.
The plan was for Reinhardt to be in the front to protect, obviously. Gabriel to be in the middle lines, Angela not too far from him, and Sojourn and Ana holding the backlines for them.
Reinhardt pridefully took being in the front, as he always had.
Gabriel kept a hood over his head still yet, of his own bad habit of hiding himself from the world and others.
He felt a tug at it, and it was Ana. She pulled it off of him. "There's no need for that Gabriel." She said with kindness in her words.
"You are part of us now. There is nothing to hide about you. Stand strong." She said, giving a slight smile to him.
He could see in her eyes she was worried too, but she wasn't very good at hiding that. He could even just tell by the way she talked something was wrong.
He tilted the edge of his mouth up making a half smile. "I guess you're right."
As they all got prepared, talking among theirselves and going over the plan one last time, they headed their way inside.
