Jasmine Atakni

With my hands tucked into the pockets of my coat, I decided to embark on a little adventure through this charming town. The delicate snowflakes gently landed on my cotton coat, their icy touch soon dissolving into the fabric. I absentmindedly pushed my hair back, contemplating its length. Although I personally preferred shorter hair, I couldn't deny the joy it brought Mark, so I kept it long for him.

As I strolled further, I reached the heart of the town, where the bustling sounds of children's laughter and the lively chatter of parents filled the air. The park was alive with the energy of families enjoying their time together.

Ahead, I spotted a quaint bakery, its windows adorned with a tantalizing display of pastries and bread. The inviting aroma of freshly baked goods wafted through the air, drawing me closer. A smile crept across my face as I thought about treating myself and perhaps picking up some delightful treats for our home.

Pushing open the creaking wooden door, the jingling of a bell announced my arrival, momentarily diverting the attention of the bustling workers. Surprisingly, the bakery was bustling with activity, customers seated at small tables, savoring their croissants and sipping aromatic coffee.

The cozy atmosphere enveloped me as the delightful hum of conversation filled my ears. I inhaled deeply, savoring the heavenly scent of chocolate and warm pastries that permeated the air. The scene before me felt like a perfect snapshot of contentment and indulgence.

As I joined the queue, my eyes danced over the array of delectable treats on display. It was a feast for the senses, a symphony of flavors waiting to be savored. My anticipation grew as I envisioned the delightful breakfast that awaited me.

In that moment, surrounded by the cozy ambiance and the mouthwatering offerings, I couldn't help but feel a sense of tranquility. It was these simple pleasures, these little moments of joy, that made life truly special. With a contented sigh, I eagerly awaited my turn to indulge in the delights this charming bakery had to offer.

As I reached the front of the line, my attention was immediately drawn to a friendly-faced girl who couldn't have been older than seventeen. Her warm smile made me feel instantly welcomed.

"New to town?" she asked with genuine curiosity, her eyes sparkling with friendliness.

"Yes, actually. Just moved in," I replied, returning her smile.

"Well, welcome to the best bakery in town. What can I get for you today?"

I listed the assortment of items I desired, realizing that my craving for freshly baked treats had gotten the best of me. As the girl totaled up the cost, I couldn't help but notice her surprise at the sum.

"Um...that will be around sixty-five dollars and twenty cents," she informed me, her voice tinged with a hint of astonishment. I nodded, reaching into my purse to retrieve my credit card.

She swiped it with a practiced hand, and as she handed it back to me, she assured me that my order would be ready in just a few minutes. I expressed my gratitude and scanned the bakery for an available seat.

Finding a cozy spot, I settled down and pulled out my phone, noticing a series of messages from Mark.

Mark: This reminds me off you...

It was an image of a shop selling fake doctor equipment for children, I smile.

Me: indicating something Mark?

Mark: that I want you tonight.

Me: Anything else...

I've always wanted children, but Mark doesn't want any at all until we're fully settled.
