a/n- helloooo! so excited to get this book started!❤️

i just want to say, lydia is the sweetest to everyone, but when she's alone she's kinda sad yk?

i think the perfect song to describe her is let the light in by lana del rey

also, lydia is from germany so she speaks fluent in german, when she speaks the language there will be a translation underneath.

i am also using a translator so i'm sorry if their is any grammar mistakes when translating.

lydia

when i wake up, i sigh. because this means another long day of work.

i slide out of my bed and i go to my dresser where i carefully placed my outfit the night before and i begin to put it on.

when my clothes are on i put on some light makeup and i brush my hair.

my apartment is quiet, except for the soft, and occasional meow that comes from my cat, matcha.

yes, i named my cat after a tea.

i lean down and pat her head gently while whispering, "bye kitty."

i grab my keys and i head for the front door.

i arrive at my job, the thing i love to do most in this world.

babysit.

but i do enjoy being a nanny to a wonderful family who pays me more than enough.

i do the basics, driving the kids to school, making them food, entertaining them, and even teaching them how to speak german.

i usually arrive an hour before the kids wake up just so i can pack their lunches and get everything ready before it becomes hectic.

their parents, some of my favorite people in the world, have very demanding jobs so they always make sure to show how appreciative they are of me.

i quietly enter the house to see james, who is walking to the entryway with his briefcase. i send him a smile when he sees me and he immediately returns it. "good morning lydia." he says.

"morning, james" i reply to which he nods his head and exits the house.

steph, who was just a few steps behind him grins and gives me a quick hug "hey lydia, we should be back a little earlier today."

i nod my head, "alright, we'll be here." i say.

she grabs her coat, purse, and keys before heading out the door.

when i manage to set everything down, i head to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

-

after i got home, i took a shower and i made myself some dinner.

today at work was easy, normal as usual. the two kids i watch are adorable and the absolute sweetest.

i'm sitting on the couch doing some reading when my sister calls me, causing me to set my book down.

"hey maddy." i answer with a smile.

maddy is a nickname for madeline, she's the best sister i could ask for. maddy is a few years older than me but we feel closer than ever.

"Hi Süße." she replies with her nickname for me.
(hi sweetie.)

"Wie geht es dir?" she continues.
(how are you?)

"i'm good, how are you?"

"i'm good too, mom told me to call and check up on you. you haven't been talking to us as often." maddy says with a sad smile.

"i know, i've been so busy with work and taking care of matcha. i know it's a shitty excuse, i'm sorry." i say genuinely.

she nods her head understandably.

"i understand, but you need to get away. maybe go do something. are you socializing enough?" she begins, and i roll my eyes.

casual maddy, always trying to take care of me, never taking care of herself.

"do you ever get lonely in that little apartment?" she continues.

i look at matcha who sleeping next to me, and i pet her with a soft laugh.

"sometimes, but you know i have the kids and matcha." i reply.

this causes maddy to groan, "ah yes that hairy little scheiße. last time i visited she scratched me." maddy says.
(shitball)

"hush, and speaking of visiting. when are you coming here?" i ask.

"i don't know, sweetie. i'm trying to keep a steady job while taking care of mom." she says sadly.

"well you better come down as soon as possible." i reply with another sad smile.

maddy and i converse for a bit longer, before she hangs up, saying she needs to go to bed because she has an early morning.

i wait for matcha to quietly eat her dinner before picking her and my book up to head into my bedroom.

when i'm comfortable and in bed, and matcha is curled up on the pillow next to mine, i think back to what maddy said earlier about me being lonely.

and before i know it i'm setting up an account on a dating app, mentally cringing because i swore i would never do this.

my ego hurts.

i add a few pictures that my friends have taken of me, still unsure of why i'm actually doing this, and i set the maximum age to thirty-five cause why not?

sugar daddies.

i write a small description of myself and i finish setting the account up.

when i'm done, i don't instantly expect a message, i don't really expect one at all, so i open up my book and i continue from where i left off.

when i finally begin to feel tired, i set my alarm because i have another long day tomorrow, and i go to bed.

a/n- hi, YALL KNOW i had to add in one of my favorite things into this story, and since i love matcha so so much i named lydia's cat after it.

also, yea a bit of a shorter chapter but i'm still trying to get to know lydia and her personality so it may take me a while.

but the more i write, the more it flows so we will be there soon.

i already have ideas growing in my head for how this story is going to go, and i'm beyond excited to share this with you guys.

love u all and i hope u enjoyed 🩷
