My hands were shaking, as I slowly rubbed them against each other.

My breath was trembling, as I slowly looked up into my mothers eyes.

The eyes, that had the color of the deep ocean during a storm, dark blue, agitated, now filled with tears and all bloodshot.

My voice barely a sound, quiet the question, not more than mumbled.

"How much longer?"

My mother wasn't answering, just avoided eye contact, as her whole body began to shiver under her sobs.

My voice just a little stronger, I knew the answer, before I heard it.

"How much longer does she have to live?"

Her eyes met with mine again, panic covered her face, those strings of her beautiful blonde-brownish hair that lost over color the past few weeks covered her tearing eyes, all grey, drained, just like her.

"Not much".

Not much.
