Hollis was awake before the sun had even come over the city buildings.

She turns on the TV and watches a few clips from previous games. Soon, Hollis is sick and on the verge of vomiting, thinking about how she would end up in the games.

Then she reminds herself she did this for Silas. She would keep him alive.

She got up and made her way to the rest of the living floor when she thought people were starting to wake.

"Any last words of wisdom?" Hollis asked when she walked into the living room and saw Cole.

"Nothing you'll listen to."

"You're right, I probably wouldn't." Hollis shrugged.

"You two are up early." Lyre says, seeing the two standing in the living room. "We need to go." She pulled at Hollis' arm.

Lyre dressed Hollis as the girl remained quiet and still. Neither of them can say anything. What would they say? Good luck was useless to Hollis now.

A ladder dropped down for her and when she touched it, she froze. "Your tracker." A woman said, holding something. She placed it on Hollis' for arm and Hollis tried not to move as the hefty looking needle went through her skin.

She froze as she felt it stay in long enough for the tracker to be placed.

The ladder released Hollis and the girl disappeared. With one last look back at Lyre, she was escorted off the roof.

Hollis waited, and while she did, she looked at her attire. Long sleeve shirt with a tight jacket. Shoes that looked like hiking boots. She looked as though she were about to camp in the woods. That gave her an idea about the arena, but nothing more.

A woman's voice interrupted the silence.

Hollis realized the under part of her bottom lip was getting dry and red. She needed to stop biting at it.

"I may not be able to place money, but I'm betting on you." Lyre said just before Hollis was launched into the arena. When she looked at her face, she knew Lyre had no reason to lie, but Hollis knew she probably said that to every tribute.

Hollis was pushed up a metal cylinder. She closed her eyes tightly, scraping her teeth against her bottom lip, peeling away the skin that was dried.

She opened her eyes when she felt a cold breeze hit her face. The sky was cloudy and there were trees everywhere.

"Let the Sixty-eighth Hunger Games!"

A giant gold horn with a curved tail stood in the middle of the circle of tributes.

As Hollis looked around, she could feel her stomach tighten and her upper legs begin to feel weak. She looked at the other 11 districts. Silas was beside her. She'd grab him and run away from the others.

Hollis was not willing to fight the others for the material items in the Cornucopia. The farther out they are, the less valuable they are. Inside the horn were canteens of water, weapons, tents, everything you could need in these games.

Surrounding them were thousands of trees mountains that made a circle far from the center of the arena.

While Hollis is examining the terrain, the gong rings and everyone flies off their pedestals. Hollis chases after Silas as he heads for the woods.

Hollis let her arms pull her legs and took the biggest strides she could, letting momentum do half the work. She had almost reached Silas when someone threw themself at her legs, causing them both to roll to the ground.

Hollis tried to kick the boy away as he slashed at her with a knife. He cut the top of her leg, deep enough to stop Hollis from kicking.

The boy from District 6 was on top of her until and knife pierced through his neck. Hollis pulled away as his body fell to the ground.

She looked up and saw Circe holding three more knives. "Get your boy." Circe told her, grabbing the knife from the boy's throat and running for a pack.

Hollis got up and ran into the woods, the same direction as Silas. Once she was under the cover of the trees, she could no longer see him.

Hollis didn't stop running. She needed as much distance between the others as she could get. She ran until her lungs couldn't get enough air and her legs felt like bricks.

She had nothing, no food, no weapons, no way of knowing where she was going.

She kept moving, walking through the trees, trying to stay covered. With so many sounds around, she kept on high alert, always being misled by the noises.

Once Hollis found a source of water, she kept following it. If her plan was to run into another tribute, this was a good idea, but she didn't have anything else to go off of.

When the sun was beginning to set, Hollis tried to find some sort of shelter. Though the day had been warm, she was starting to feel the cold breeze of night.

She was beginning to stumble through the night when she heard voices. Two guys sat around a fire, sharpening their weapons.

"Tomorrow we'll find the girls." They both sat in silence. If they're alive, the both showed it on their faces.

All three of them looked up when they heard something fall into the trees. The blonde boy from District 2 got up, heading for the tree.

A small, silver parachute had fallen onto a low hanging branch. The boys looked at it, opening it and congratulating each other.

They had been sent an entire loaf of bread. The boys left the parachute and returned to their fire.

Hollis, still crouching behind a tree, began to slowly crawl backwards, once she was back in the shadows, she slowly stood.

A knife was thrown into the tree next to her, just barely missing her arm. Hollis froze, she didn't look at the knife, she didn't turn to see who threw it.

"Don't just stand there. Get her!" A familiar voice ordered the two boys, but Hollis took off running before she could look at Circe.

She kept running, even when she heard the boys getting closer. She couldn't stop, she had no weapons or any way to fight them both.

The sound of one crying out and falling to the ground didn't stop Hollis. She looked over her shoulder, seeing the boy holding his throat.

Circe watched Hollis with wide eyes. She began to yell when Hollis was thrown back, sparks flying from the trees, that Hollis had just discovered were fake.

"Hollis. Stay awake. C'mon." Hollis heard Circe's voice, but didn't remember when she stopped hearing it.

The world closed around Hollis, everything going dark as she felt someone grab her face.

Hollis couldn't feel anything on her body, except the sharp pain in her chest at a steady rhythm.
