Kamila's POV

*PRESENT TIME,arriving in NYC*

As I drove by the city and the lights I couldn't help but feel a pang of nostalgia, I hadn't been to NYC in what seemed like forever. I loved it, the lights, the streets, the billboards.

Pretty soon I felt all my worries leave and I felt at home, as much as I would miss Texas, there was nothing quite like NYC. This was my new start, the new me. The City of Dreams with so many new opportunities just waiting for me.

Before I knew it the taxi had arrived at my Tia Veronica's house and I could feel myself get all giddy when I saw her car in the drive. I stepped out of the taxi and gave the kind man a tip and smile before shutting the door and watching him drive off.

I went up to the door and knocked and after about a few moments the door opened. As soon as my tia saw me she was quick to embrace me and hold me for a few moments.

"Que haces aqui Kami?! You should have told me and I would have prepared the guest room for you." translation: what are you doing here?!

"hey titi, I missed you, sorry for showing up with no warning, I just really needed to get away and I have a favor to ask"

"Well, what is it? Do you need my help hiding a body? You know me and your tia Moni will help you and it'll be like nothing happened" she said with a wink.

I couldn't help but chuckle knowing that to anyone else it would be taken as a joke but I knew my tia was serious.

" No titi no dead bodies," I said with a chuckle "I really don't know how to ask this  honestly"

"bueno mejor duermes por esta noche y en la mañana hablamos ok?" translation: well , better yet, sleep for the night and in the morning we'll talk ok?

"Ok titi, that sounds good, again, sorry for just barging in on you and Tia Moni like this."

"Nonsense niña, you know we are always open to you coming here, you are like the child we haven't had."

And with that, we walked into the house. As I walked in I saw my tia Moni fast asleep on the couch, I smiled knowingly at the fact that my aunts worked so hard to have the life neither of them had as kids. My tia Veronica walked me further into the house, and up the stairs, until we stopped outside of a door.

"Tomorrow we will get you settled in and we'll clean up this room a bit more, sorry it's a bit messy, it hasn't been used since Moni's nephew came to stay with us. You remember Marcos don't you?"

I nodded my head yes, as I faintly remembered meeting the strange boy with glasses larger than necessary. He was rather shy but we got along well, I wondered how he was doing. The last time I saw him I was 11 and he was just turning 13. I would probably see him soon if he came over to visit my tias often.

" Yes titi of course I remember Marcos, I haven't talked to him in what seems like forever though. I would love to see him soon"

"Well, lucky for you, he comes over almost every Saturday for breakfast so if he does show up tomorrow you'll get to see him and hang out for a bit."

I smiled at the idea, I know adjusting will take quite a while but so far so good.

My thoughts were interrupted as my tia started to talk.

"ill leave you to pack and nothing has really changed since the last time you were here so make yourself at home, you practically know where everything is. Goodnight mi Kami bella, I love you,"
