Had an idea of what if Steve slayed the dragon yet for some reason couldn't escape the End? Well that's because Lexi is an ender dragon as well and she could open it. Only cost is that she would have to stay in the End. Of course, Steve didn't like that but she demanded him to go regardless. With Lexi (now a dragon) walking away, this is how Steve reacted at the opened portal.
