"I told you this would be more fun" Raina grins arms up above her head feeling the air rush across her skin "you'd think after a thousand years, you would learn to enjoy the simple things in life" she mused arms relaxing whilst the hybrid drives, a few car's following behind driven by either sired hybrids or compelled humans.
"Simple is boring" Nik replied.
"No, you're just looking at wrong" she glanced down to the pedals one brown tweaking up as Nik felt it move down from his foot speeding the car forward "I can the car in control. Let go of it" she told with a curtain kind of smile that Nik hadn't seen before "whats wrong, Nikki? A thousand footlong stick up your ass?" The original chuckled and raised his hands looking amused "you have spent your entire immortal life living under the shadow of paranoia. Look around, there's no one here who wants you dead. Relax"
"We're are going a hundred miles over the speed limit-"
"Neither of us can die"
"Yes, but if Elijah finds out-"
"He's in a box" she narrowed her eyes "come on, Nikki. Has there ever been a time in your life where you could just relax, enjoy your immortality?"
"There was actually" he half smiles thinking back "Elijah, Rebekah and I moved to New Orleans. Built it from the ground up, we had the werewolves and the witches, even the humans all coexisting together. We were royalty, I adopted a boy, a slave who turned out to be the governors son, he had an affair with a maid-" he stopped suddenly features dropping and looks at the girl besides him and her amused, innocent looking smile "what did you?"
"Projected my aura to you" she smiles once again "feels good, doesn't it?" He sighs heavily unable to fight the smile forcing its way on his lips.
"Yes. Now give me back the car" she chuckled nodding towards the wheel. Nik was driving again, smile small but still there.
"New Orleans is different now" she mentioned "vampires run amuck"
"I'm sure you handled them"
"Quite the opposite actually. I spoke to the human fraction of the strange little council they have, apparently the vampire's keep to themselves, throw parties and what not, the tourists still come and everyone still gets paid" she shrugs "besides, regular witches are quite the unpleasant species"
"Yes, they are" she looks to him suddenly.
"Are we bonding, Niklaus?" She mused.
"Not if you call me that" he told and Raina laughed "have you spoken to Elijah lately?"
"No" she sigh's "why do you ask?"
"I'm just curious. Your bond gets stronger even with him in a box and here you are, sat besides the very person who put him there and you do have both the power and apparently the spell to kill me, so I'm just wondering how long this little act of yours is going to last"
"My god. Has paranoia taken such a hold over you?" She frowns deeply "I am a person of my word, would you rather we sit in dreadful silence? Fine" she looks away from him like a sulking child and sigh's relaxing. Nik cursed himself mentally.
"I'm sorry, sweetheart. Look, you're right. For the past a thousand years I have been running from my father, chasing down anyone who would threaten me or my family. Yes, I am paranoid but it is what has kept me safe, what has kept my family safe" she looks towards him brows only slightly sunken "but tell me. Why do you wish to bond with the man who killed people you care about?"
"Jenna, yes. Elena... not so much"
"Do tell"
"When my parents decided to make me a hunter, they told me that an original vampire came to try to kill Elena before we could even turn three years old-"
