Jade's eyelids fluttered open with a jolt, the shrill alarm clock shattering the peaceful morning silence. Her body felt revitalized, a testament to a night of deep, uninterrupted sleep.

With a vigorous stretch, Jade swung her legs over the edge of the bed and stumbled to her feet; palpable eagerness pulsating through her as she anticipated the day that lay ahead.

She navigated the path to the bathroom, her mind already racing with the tasks of the day. After a refreshing shower and a quick change into her favorite azure dress, she made her way downstairs to the kitchen

The house was quiet, save for the occasional ticking of the clock. Everyone else, except Rubby, had already left for the day, leaving behind a sense of calm that was only broken by the occasional rustle of the wind against the windows.

Jade took it upon herself to prepare breakfast for herself and Rubby.

As Jade finished preparing breakfast, Rubby's footsteps approached and Jade turned to greet her with a smile, "Good Morning, Rubby."

"Good morning," Rubby responded, her voice echoing in the quiet kitchen.

"I made us breakfast. Would you like to join me?" Jade offered, her eyes twinkling with anticipation.

"Absolutely," Rubby replied, a note of enthusiasm in her voice.

As they sat down to eat, Rubby's eyes widened with delight, "Wow, this is incredible," She exclaimed, her eyes closed as she savored each bite, " Where did you learn to make such delicious omelets?"

"My Mother taught me," Jade replied, a warm smile spreading across her face.

"Perhaps you could teach me. I've always wanted to learn how to cook. But will I be a worthy student?" Rubby confessed, her eyes gleaming with interest.

"We shall see," Jade said, a playful note in her voice.

"Are we traveling by bus?" Jade inquired.

"Yes, I shall guide you," Rubby smiled gently, "After university, we can venture into some other places, too, so you can get familiar with this city,"

Jade couldn't help but notice the way Rubby's smile illuminated her face and how b-

Her thoughts were cut short by Rubby's sudden question.

"Do you have a boyfriend, Jade?"

"No, I don't. Do you?" Jade raised an eyebrow in curiosity.

"Yes, I do," Rubby replied with a subtle smile, "Thank you for the food. I'm going to get ready. We should be leaving soon," she said, placing her soiled plate in the sink to wash it.

Jade tidied up the kitchen as she awaited Rubby's return. After a quarter of an hour, Rubby returned downstairs and they set off for the bus stop, a mere 3-minute walk from their house.

Their destination was Stanford University, where Jade enrolled in her courses and received her schedule. She had been torn between majoring in data analysis and science prior to her arrival in America, but today, she made her choice, opting for the latter.

Jade, the second-born, had always excelled in her studies. She had skipped two grades in Cuba due to her academic prowess. Her eagerness to learn and her natural talent for academics had led her to university before her older brother, Johnny, who was still in the twelfth grade and would begin university the following year.

After Jade's university tour, Rubby took her to the mall for lunch and showed her around, introducing her to local restaurants and coffee shops. She also taught Jade how to navigate the bus system, not just for the university for their daily commute, but also for potential future destinations.
