The known reticent boy seems to be the opposite when he hears his name being called by the lovely girl. He beams, popping up from his seat on the ground and embracing the girl in a hug "Devyn! Hi, I missed you" he grins, smile lines making an appearance for the first time that day.

It's the middle of the week, day dragging out slow as the sun shines prominent above, clouds drooling over the florescent beams. The birds chirp in the distance, melodies being taken for a ride in the pleasant breeze, the same one that pushes against blonde locks.

"I missed you too," she smiles gently, the two parting from their embrace "how're you?" normally, Sam would hate this question, especially since he's been asked it countless of times from the same brunette but he doesn't mind it now, spilling out words like he's never before.

"My mom finally agreed to taking me to the movies! She said I could bring a friend so if you'd like to come you can, though I don't think she really means it.. I think it was just in the moment, you know?" He lets out a small laugh, eyes gazing up at the other with a happy glint "that sounds fun, I'd love to come if I can."

Sam's next words are caught in his throat, stopping mid word as his eyes catch the lingering body mere steps behind Devyn. He blinks, shutting up quickly "um- how was your day?" He murmurs, joy dying down as he realizes how annoying he must sound, biting back the smile that he realizes makes a strong appearance.

Devyn laughs softly, shaking her head "it was great," she smiles, body turning towards the brunette. She motions for him to come closer and he doesn't hesitate to, a smile on his face, though he can't help but hold a slight grudge to the boy for shutting up when seeing him, he doesn't think he's such an intimidating person.

"This is Colby- I know you've already met, but he wanted to sit with us today, if that's okay with you?" The blonde nods once, he doesn't dare disagree, even if he was one to talk alot he wouldn't deny the offer, he thinks it'd be rude to just kick him out.

He finds his spot on the ground again, eyeing the pair as he watches Devyn give him a smile saying quiet words that he could only assume is her telling him to sit seeing as they sit down seconds later, the three forming a triangle, Sam in the middle of the two.

The air around him is no longer as peaceful, the twos conversation filling his ears accompanied by the rustling of wrappers from their food- Devyn had packed lunch for the three of them.

Sam reaches forward, claiming his sandwich and unwrapping the foil only to frown. He hadn't thought he and Devyn was apart for so long, but maybe they have, or maybe it was just an accidental slip up, she knows he's not a fan of turkey sandwiches and would much rather prefer ham, especially with no mayo, he can clearly see both mayo and mustard, he likes his sandwiches plain.

He gazes up, gazing down at the sandwich in Devyns hand he can see she's taken a bite already, lettuce peaking out and mayo being visible that's enough for him to realize that's not his sandwich, it only furthers his suspicions seeing the lighter meat as well. He pouts, he doesn't want to complain, she's already gone out of her way to make lunch for him and he'd hate to ruin the moment.

Suddenly, he remembers the other addition to their lunch, eyes quickly gazing to Colby to see the sandwich still neatly wrapped in foil. He can't help but wish he'd open it, he's sure it's the same but he can't help but get his hopes up, he's starving and a turkey sandwich wasn't on his menu for today.

The brunette nods along with Devyns words as she tells a story, reaching down for the sandwich and unwrapping it, going to take a bite his movements are stopped when the blonde next to him is gasping, the noise catching him by surprise as it is the first of any noise he's made since spotting him.

When the pairs of eyes look at him questionably he cowers, he hadn't meant to make an outburst but when seeing that Colby infact did have his sandwich he couldn't help but grow excited "what happened?" Colbys the first to ask, brows pinched in worry. He watches as pink lips open then close, bottom lip quivering as he suddenly realizes who's infront of him, he can't ask to switch, what if he likes ham too? He can't just take it away.

Eyes flicking to the sandwich he shakes his head slowly, he'll just pick the items off his own "oh my gosh," Devyn let's out a small laugh, reaching forward and taking Sam's sandwich "I totally forgot. That one's Sam's, here" she can't help the giggle that slips past her lips as she swaps sandwiches with Colby "he hates turkey, let alone not having plain" she informs, giving Sam his respectful sandwich who takes it with a small smile.

The brunette lets out a soft chuckle "oh, I see," he gazes at the blonde with a fond smile "is there anything else that's yours? I'd hate to eat something you want" the blondes quiet mind runs rapid of thoughts, different sentences that could be a possibility he answers with. There's a moment of silence before he shakes his head, eyes falling to the food and reaching forward "just this" he murmurs, swiping the single cookie Devyn always brings him no matter if it's the last one she has or not, and by the looks of it he's sure it is the last as there's only one.

Minutes pass and lunch is almost over, leaving Colby with a disappointed pit in his stomach when Sam never engages in the conversation apart from a simple nod of his head and he almost hates himself for joining in without his knowledge. He seemed so happy when Devyn entered his little world but when it came to him, he shut down and wanted nothing with them anymore, he wonders if he'll ever come around like he hoped he would.

"Hey, don't worry about it. A few more lunches with him I'm sure he'll come around. Promise" Devyn smiles promising, gently jabbing him in the side as he watches the boy walk away without a word.
