The Agile Fighter - Ryujin

Ryujin pov

As we walked it was getting dark, so we had to find somewhere to chill for the night. Since we couldn't make a fire because that would give away our position, we just had to use flashlights on the lowest setting. I sat down in front of a tree and leaned back on it.

I grabbed my knife and looked at it. I saw it wasn't that sharp, so I grabbed my sharpener for my knife and started to sharpen it. When I was done I put the knife sharpener in my bag then put my knife away.

I looked around and saw them getting the machine gun ready and the claymores as well in case. I made sure my rifle was loaded and ready.

"Alright Ryujin your up first" Yeji said

"Why is it always me" I said

"You call yourself the agile fighter, your only gonna be on look out for three hours then it's Yuna's turn, the rest of y'all will get a good rest and tomorrow we'll report to the forest field tomorrow morning" Yeji said

Everyone then laid down on the ground and fell asleep. I sighed knowing imma have to stay up for another three hours, but this is what I signed up for and I have to deal with it.

I just sat there as I tried not to fall asleep for the first hour. As I was looking around I saw something in the distance which looked like a person. I looked closely and saw that there was more than one of them. I got the machine gun ready and quietly as I got ready. I looked around and saw that Chaeryeong was closest to me, she was sleeping with her head against her bag with her rifle in her arms.

Chaeryeong was my friend from high school, and we got along easily since we were both in our high school dance club. Chaeryeong is a very jumpy person. When she hears loud noises she gets scared and starts to freak out. But I don't know why she would come here knowing there is gonna be loud noises.

Maybe it's something personal or something I don't know. I took my sight off of her when I remembered the people I saw. I looked back to where I last saw them but they were gone. Oh shit I lost them, now I really had to keep my eyes out for any movement.

"Where are y'all fuckers" I whispered as I looked through the scope.

Suddenly the sounds of loud explosions and gun fires filled the air, waking everyone up. From what I could see everyone jumped out of their sleep and started shooting in random directions. I saw three people run by and I started shooting at them.

I couldn't hear that well since claymores and gunshots filled my ears. I then saw the people start to run away. Everything then calmed down and I saw Yeji, Winter, and Yubin go out and look for any other people that were still here.

I looked to my side and saw Chaeryeong holding her rifle in her arms as she had a scared look on her face. I immediately went next to her to comfort her. I sat next to her and put my arm around her. It calmed her down and I took my arm off her.

"Calm down Chaeryeong, they're gone and won't be back for awhile" I said

She nodded and grabbed her rifle in her hands. I got up and went to check on the others. Yeji and them just returned and were checking on everyone. Two of our people were shot. Hanni and Dahyun were shot. Dahyun was shot in her left arm twice and Hanni was shot in the shoulder.

"Shit, Yubin get Yuri and Solar quickly" Yeji said

Dahyun was crying out in pain while Hanni was leaning against a tree, breathing heavily holding her wounded shoulder. Yuri and Solar came a few seconds later and started to check on them. I walked away to check on the others. Chaeryeong was still just sitting there with a scared look on her face. Yeji then came by.

"Alright guys those guys are now gone, y'all can go back to sleep now" Yeji said then walked back to wherever she was before.

Since I didn't want Chaeryeong to be scared I slept next to her as Yuna went to the machine as it was her turn to guard. I put my gun to the side and laid down on my bag and tried my best to fall asleep.

The next morning Yeji woke us all up. We got up and stretched before we started walking. I decided to walk beside Yeji and Lia as we made our way to the forest field.

"Lia, how far is the forest field?" I asked

She looked at the map and then back at me.

"We're about a mile away from the forest field, and that's where we're gonna set up for the battle probably tomorrow or the next day after that" Lia said

We continued to walk till we got to the forest field. We got there after about 30 minutes of walking and the other squad which I'm guessing is Winter's squad. We put our guns down and I took my helmet off.

Me, Yuna, and Chaeryeong had to dig a dugout and cover it with sticks. Yuna was the one collecting the sticks and me and Chaeryeong worked on the digging. We had to make a six feet under and  make it wide enough for at least three people to fit in.

It was hot on this day so many of the girls took their shirts off or had a dark green tank top on with random necklaces on. After we dug the dugout Yuna got the sticks and started placing them on top. As we were setting up Yeji came over to us.

"How y'all doing with y'all's dugout?" Yeji asked

"Doing well it's just so damn hot out here" Chaeryeong said

"Well that's life out here in the forest, just gotta deal with it Lee plus tomorrow we'll be back at base camp and we'll get the fresh air conditioners to cool us down so you'll survive" Yeji said

"Hopefully plus what's Winter's squad doing here captain never told us about them being here" Chaeryeong said

"I don't know probably captain sent them here without telling us plus their a good help" Yeji said

"True but we have to get back to this dugout" I said

"Alright I'll leave y'all be, holler if you need me" Yeji said and we all nodded

She left and went to where Lia was at. We continued to work on the dugout.

"I don't think I'll make it out of here alive" Chaeryeong said

"Hey don't jinx it" Yuna said

"Plus why'd you come here in the first place?" I asked

"Because I wanted to show my family that I can do something like this since they didn't believe in me, but I think I made a big mistake coming here" she said

"I came here because my parents wanted me to do it even though I didn't want to. They still made me volunteer for it, I even had to drop out of school just to volunteer for this shit" Yuna said

"I just came because my grandpa was in the Vietnam war and since he died last year I wanted to honor him by doing this and because my dad thought it would be a good way to experience it but I disagree with him on that" I said

We then heard Winter yell out something.

"Everyone take a break and eat some food we brought from base camp!" Winter yelled

We put our shoves down and went to where everyone was going. We got some bottled water and canned food and some candy. I sat down on a hill and ate my food which didn't taste the best but I'm not picky plus it's the only food we have here anyway.

I looked around and just saw everyone just walking around or sitting eating their food. After I ate I got out my pack of cigarettes and took one out. I put it between my lips before getting my lighter and lighting it.

I sat there smoking as I stared into my own thoughts. As I got lost in my thoughts I felt someone suddenly push my side making me fall but I caught myself with ease. I looked and saw my friend Karina

"Wassup Ryujin, let me get a cigarette" she said and sat down next to me

I gave her one and lit it for her as well. We sat there just talking about everything and anything till we were called to get back to digging. I said goodbye to her before going back with Yuna and Chaeryeong.

We dug till the sun went down. I'm tired so I went to the dugout with the other two. We laid down and Yuna was already fast asleep and me and Chaeryeong were still awake but soon she fell asleep and I did as well.
