Scene 5: Spiraling Denial

A quiet ping opened the doors to a length of plastic chairs and handrailings and cracked windows and red blinking screens. Familiar clanking of metal on metal rattled the car as soon as Meguru stepped out of the elevator and looked to the right to see a skyscraper on fire. The building next to it had half-sunk into the ground, its arms reaching to the sky as it took its final breaths. Shades of blood and sunset rendered the sky into a golden graveyard, and Meguru could only stand with empty eyes. The train shook to a stop, an announcement blaring on a screen for a couple seconds, before accelerating off again. He looked down at the track, shaped like the turret shell of a hermit crab burying into sand as waves of lava crashed over top; he screamed for it to fly but the ground swallowed his voice in a lazy gulp.

He screamed and it went black-
