Y/n's pov

A week passed quicker than I expected, and the heat wave got worse
It was so hot outside, I was practically melting as we walked around the main side of town
I got the job as a waitress somewhere else, it was in a Cantina
It didn't sound so bad, but my work hours were weird
Some days I had my shifts in the afternoon and other days I'd have my shifts at night

It was a weird schedule but at least I'll get paid
"Papá, can we please go home now..? I'm melting like a popsicle" I said as sweat kept appearing on my forehead, making me feel sticky and gross
"Stop complaining Y/n, we still need to explore around the town" he said as he kept walking
I groaned, we've been here since 10:30 am, and it's already 1:05 in the afternoon

My phone started ringing, I picked it up and saw the contact name
I slightly smiled as I picked up, "hola Alejandro" I said, slightly smiling
"Hey Y/n! I heard that you're in the main place of the town, I'm there too. I was wondering if you wanted to hang out and you know, get to know each other?"

Alejandro's pov

I was slightly nervous talking to Y/n, even if it was on the phone
"Oh, sure! I don't mind, besides, I'm pretty bored at the moment" they said
I smiled softly
"Alright, well, I'll meet you by the water fountain, see you in a bit" I said
"Alright, see ya" Y/n said as they hanged up

"So, you're shooting your shot?" Wally asked
"I wouldn't say that, I just want to get to know them better. I want to be friends first with them" I said
"Alright, if you say so" he said
"Speaking of which, what about Elena? She's also here, if you want to talk to her, she's right there you know" I said as I looked at Wally

"Hm, I might, but I don't know" Wally said as he took out a red cloth, which he used to wipe away the sweat from his forehead "hace tanto calor hoy" he complained slightly
"It's not that bad" I said, "well, I'll be heading out now, see you later" and with that, I left

Wally's pov

I saw as Alejandro left
Was it really that easy to love?
Because to me, it's clear that he has at least something for Y/n, even though they just met
Which is crazy to me since I've been trying to move on from someone for about a year now and well, there has been no luck nor love for me
Maybe love isn't really for me...

Y/n's pov

I leaned against the water fountain, waiting for Alejandro
I looked at my phone, ready to text him
As I was about to do so though, I felt someones hand on my shoulder
I got a bit startled until I saw Alejandro
"Hey Y/n, sorry for startling ya" he said as he sat next to me
"No you're fine" I said as I smiled

"Well, how has the town been treating you? Is everything okay?" He asked
"Everything has been fine, we've been okay. Thanks for asking"
Alejandro smiled, "I'm glad," he said
His brown eyes were very visible in the sun, it was quite mesmerizing if I had to be honest
I shook off my thoughts
"Well, I'd like to know about you. If you don't mind telling me about yourself of course" he said in a gentle tone

"Well, I'm y/n, I finished highschool, never went to college, and I moved here with my family because shit got tough in the city" I said
"You make it sound so lame" he said with a light chuckle
"Oh shut up, it shouldn't sound exciting either" I said as I rolled my eyes playfully

We then began talking for God knows how long

Wally's pov

As I wandered around the town, I saw Elena, who also seemed to be wandering
I decided to approach her
"Hey dear" I said with a slight smile
She then turned around and smiled "oh, hello Wally. Fancy seeing you here" she said
"Yeah, hey, wanna get a drink?" I offered
"Oh? Well, I suppose I have time"
"Great, let's go" I said as I grabbed her hand
We walked to a cantina and decided to sit outside

The waiter took our drink order and left, leaving me and Elena alone
"Well, is there anything you'd like to talk about?" She asked
"Actually yeah, there's a couple of things that I need to ask" I said
"Oh, is it important?"
"No no querida, well it is but not something to be nervous about"

The waiter came back with our drinks, and I immediately took a sip of my drink
"Alright, so what is it?"
I sighed
"Well, you know, about last week" I said
She blushed slightly as I mentioned last week
"Oh..well, what about it..?" She asked, slightly nervous
"Well, I wanted to ask" I took a deep breath "do you wanna, maybe, go out sometime? Maybe go on a date" I asked

Elena stayed quiet for a bit
She then smiled softly
"I'd love to" she said as she took a sip of her own drink
I smiled slightly, "well, would you like to go out next Friday? Im not busy that day, and most places around here are open until midnight on Fridays"

"I don't think I'm busy on Friday," she said "I'm as free as a bird"
I chuckled slightly
Maybe this wasn't gonna be so bad after all..

Elena went inside the cantina for some napkins since she kinda spilled some of her margarita on the table
She was a bit clumsy, but quite the charmer as well
I looked around and in the corner of my eye, I saw Y/n and Alejandro, they were walking and talking
They seemed to be giggling as well

It was quite a sight to see
Alejandro was right about one thing last night though
He was right about their smile
It was mesmerizing
As if I was looking at a portrait
It almost reminded me of her smile..
I signed

"It's hard to get over someone like you, Maria"
