It was in the middle of the day and Skylar was pacing back and forth waiting to hear a response from her bestfriend Glenn Rhee, while Aria Grimes was sitting down drawing and Logan Grimes was off playing around with her twin brother.
Skylars pacing came to a stop when she hears a voice
"Hello? Hello? Can anybody hear my voice?" The voice said cutting in and out. Skylar immediately went to the CB, Amy following her
"Hey? Hello?" Amy answered the voice "Can you hear my voice?" The voice asked again
"Yes, we can hear you. You're coming through. Over." Amy replied. Aria finally put down her sketch book and looked up at what was happening
"Anybody who reads, please respond. Broadcasting on emergency channel. We'll be approaching Atlanta on Highway 85. Anybody reads, please respond."
"We're just outside the city. Damnit. Hello? Hello? He couldn't hear me. I couldn't warn him." Skylar spoke into the CB only for it to cut out
"Try to raise him again. Come on, son. You know best how to work this thing," Dale told Shane
Shane comes over and tries to work the radio."Hello, hello, is the person who calls still on the air? This is officer Shane Walsh, broadcasting a person unknown, please respond. He's gone." Shane spoke in the radio
"There are others. It's not just us." Lori spoke up as the twins came over and sat down by their mother
"Yeah, We knew there would be, right, that's why we let the CB on." Shane replied
"Lots of good it's been doing. And I've been saying for a week, we ought to put signs up on 85 to warn people away from the city." Lori said
"Folks got no idea what they're getting into." Amy spoke
"We don't have enough time." Shane said
"Well think we should make time." Skylar spoke up and Shane glanced at her
"Yeah, that, uh... That's a luxury we can't afford. We are surviving here. We are day to day." Shane told the girl
"And who the hell would you propose to send?" Dale questioned
"I'll go. All you have to do is give me a vehicle." Skylar answered Dales question
"No, it's a no."
"Mom." Skylar looked at her mother
"Shane, I'll go with her. She's right we do need to make times."
"Nobody goes anywhere alone, you know that." Shane dismissed
"Yes, sir." Lori goes away and the twins follows her, but Shane holds them back.
"Hey, hey, hey, come on, take a sit, twins. You're alright, go on, you're alright." Shane told them.
The Grimes siblings watch Shane walk away and all Aria does is raise her brows.
"Are you okay, Sky?" Carl asked his oldest sister
"I'm fine Carl." Skylar sighed patting his head
"Is there ever a time he's not following her?" Aria asked Skylar
"Not that I can remember." Skylar replied
"I want to go find mommy." Logan spoke
"Alright." Skylar said to her younger sister
"I'll go with." Carl offered as the two got up looking for their mother.
"Mom?" The twins called out hoping their mom is in the tent
Shane exits rather fast and walks towards the twins
"What's up, twins? She's in there, go on." Shane told them as he walked away and the two walked towards Lori
"Hey. I don't want you to worry. Your mom is not going anywhere. Okay? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Go finish your chores, tell Aria the same thing ." Lori tells her younger kids
"Okay." Carl nodded his head
"Love you mommy." Logan hugged her mother before leaving to do her chores as her mother asked her to.
"Aria, mom said to do your chores." Carl told his sister
"I will." Aria replied "I'm kinda talking here" turning her head back to Skylar "How come you don't have chores?"
"Because I'm 20 and you aren't." Skylar replied
"Whatever. I'll be 18 next year" Aria rolled her eyes.
"You think Glenn's okay?" Skylar asked her sister
"Why wouldn't he be? He has all those people with him so he should be good. If it was just him alone then he most definitely would not be okay." Aria replied and Skylar shoved her lightly "You asked for my opinion."
"Glenn can survive on his own. If it wasn't for him I could've been dead by now." Skylar said replaying the memory when they first met.
"Yeah, how lovely the Pizza boy saves the college girl, so romantic." Aria sarcastically replied
"Aria Hope. I thought I told the twins to tell you to start chores?" Lori said going up to her daughter seeing her in the same spot
"I'm going, I'm going." Aria said getting up heading to do her chores.
Skylar stared into the distance just thinking about Glenn. Lori notices and grabs her daughters hand "He'll be okay. I promise baby." Lori assured her.
"I hope so." Skylar said looking back into the distance
