The Gopis wanted Krishna as their husbands so they worshipped Goddess Katyayani but their parents didn't wanted then to be Krishna's wives. When they were bathing Krishna stole their clothes the Gopis weren't feeling harrasment . Only a husband can see a girl naked so Krishna automatically married them . they were offending Varuna by bathing naked in the holy river so by doing this he clears their sin .
