JUDITH "JUDE" WALTERS HAS KNOWN ONE THING FOR CERTAIN SINCE SHE WAS A KID; SHE WOULD HAVE THE PERFECT FUTURE. Being raised by a single mother, Jude experienced firsthand what it was like to worry about how you could afford groceries this month and saw how much it broke a mother to tell her daughter she couldn't do the sport she wanted because of the fees that would come with it. Jude didn't resent her mother for the life she had given her, in fact, she admired the hell out of her. But her mother's life was one Jude refused to live herself. So she had a plan.
She had written the plan down in a pink locked notebook in fifth grade and she still had it. And since she entered high school, Jude has worked hard to make the plan happen.
Except there was one variable fifth grade Jude could have never prepared for; Steven Conklin.
He had been a thorn in Jude's side since freshman year and now they're graduating with Steven as valedictorian and Jude as salutatorian, running the very first part of her plan.
Despite that setback, the second step is well underway with her acceptance into Columbia. And before the next four years of stress, Jude just wants a peaceful summer at the beach. Though fate has decided Jude can't be free from Steven yet.
But despite fate and Steven's annoyingness, Jude is determined to have the best summer ever. No matter what.
