'Well, that was... something.' After we went to the doctor to get my quirk registered into the system, Mayu took me back to the house. And as soon as I entered my room, I plopped down on the bed and passed out.

Like, that was probably the best sleep I've ever had, even better than when I was a baby.

It was the next day when I awoke and it was awfully quiet in the house. No music playing, no smell of cooking. Nothing. The sun's rays were starting to make their way through the window, but they didn't hit me directly.

'Don't tell me...' Did my parents die? Is the system forcing me to become the most generic hero ever?

I opened the door of my room, a yawn escaping my lips as I walked into the bathroom. It was strange. Usually somebody would come and wake me up but today—nothing.

Slight panic started to kick in because I didn't want to jinx myself for the god-knows what time. If my parents were actually dead, then I would go broke way too fast. I was shit with money!

I turned around and quickly ran down the stairs, still dressed in the outfit I had on from yesterday. I probably smelled awful but that was besides the point.

"Mom? Dad?" I asked out loud, my eyebrows furrowed. The lights weren't even turned off but their bedroom door was open! Where the hell were--

"Surprise! Happy birthday, Y/N!" I screamed in surprise as two figures jumped from behind the corner.

Wait...

Birthday?

'Oh, yeah! Shit!' I completely forgot that today was my birthday! The quirk and the strange message from yesterday were the only thing on my mind and I wasn't expecting a surprise like this.

Mayu laughed as I calmed myself down, with Hiroki apologizing for scaring me. He always apologized—that's another thing I learned about him.

"You should've seen the look on your face!" Mayu chuckled, wiping a non-existent tear away from her eye before giving me a box, telling me to open it.

'I'm four now, right?' 

I thanked her and took it from her hands. Honestly, the box itself was extremely pretty. The couple would always go out of their way to decorate my birthday present. Hell, they did it even when I was a baby!

I smiled and opened the gift, unsure of what it could be.

Perhaps I was getting a phone? No way, I was still four.

From the millions of things I could've received, I wasn't expecting...

"I saw it in your room and it looked really dirty, so, I decided to wash it and fix it up! Gosh, when you were a baby, you always had it near you!" Mayu cooed as I continued to stare at the sheep, its dead, soulless black eyes staring back right at me.
