I know updating can be hard as you don't want it to take over your life. It's just about communication with your readers, people are more understanding than you think they are!

🌿 Wattpad now sends you a message if you're book hasn't been updated in a while. It's nothing to fear and it doesn't threaten to take it down. However, it does subtly say it will ghost-block it (meaning it'll stop being shown as a recommendation).

🌿 If discontinued, mark it as completed or delete it to make your profile cleaner. Even leave it on a cliffhanger so it's completed for people but has the potential to be continued.

🌿 Mark graphics books as completed if you're not regularly adding chapters.

🌻 The Wattpad algorithm pushes and recommends books that are updated regularly and you'll get more readers by doing so. This doesn't apply to finished books that are marked that way.

🌻 If you know you'll be away for a bit, post the author's note to keep it in circulation.

🌻 If you'll experiencing writer's block, let people know. There's no shame in it!

🦋 A rough updating schedule could help you. They don't always work but they can give you some encouragement.

🦋 For translations, this could work best for you so you have regular updates.

🦋 If you know you are going on holiday or need a break, try to rewrite a few chapters (even if they're shorter than you'd like) and use the schedule option so they post while you are away.
