Darkness. Bill was asleep, deep in a slumber that he couldn’t awake from even if he wanted to. He had had too much to drink. They all had. His mind was wide awake, but he was barely registering the outside world. He could faintly hear the voices of his panicked bandmates and, bizarrely enough, the crash of waves.
Perhaps he was so drunk that he was hallucinating. He was probably just imagining that constant rocking sensation beneath him and the strong smell of sea salt. He had simply had too much to drink, he told himself. The night was a blur, his memory clouded by the effects of the alcohol. Oh, how he regretted it, bottle after bottle, shot after shot.
But even so, he slept on, dead to the world.

The Sun was shining bright, warming his skin. Bill groaned softly, his eyes fluttering open slowly, wincing as he struggled to adjust to the bright lighting. Where was he? After a moment, he could finally open his eyes. He could vaguely make out the silhouette of someone watching him curiously, gently brushing their fingertips across his cheek. He blinked, his blurred vision clearing as he looked up at the mysterious girl only inches away from him, her eyes scanning over him in surprise.
He murmured incoherently, weakly lifting a hand as he reached for the beautiful girl. She lurched back as if she were afraid of him. “Don’t be scared” Bill whispered, his vision fading away as the girl ran from him, the world disappearing from his sight again as he was dragged back into that endless void of darkness.
After what seemed like hours, he finally opened his eyes again.
The first thing he saw above him was the sky. It was a bright blue, unlike he had ever seen before, and he could make out the shapes of palm tree leaves, rustling softly in the wind. It was then that he realised that he had no idea where he was, and he had no memory of anything that had happened to him.
Panicked and confused, he pulled himself up onto his elbows. Searching his surroundings for any sign of familiarity, any sign of where he was -
He was surrounded by golden sand, a gorgeous lagoon of shimmering shades of blue ahead of him. Waves crashed over a reef in the distance, the beach around him seemingly deserted, apart from a very deflated kiddy swimming pool lying crumpled in the sand a few feet away from him. He groaned in pain, massaging his temple as he tried to soothe his pounding headache.
He couldn’t remember why he was here in the first place. All he could recall was a dream he had had, one that seemed so real. The beautiful girl who had been at his side watching over him, only to run away in fear as he reached for her. Such a strange dream out of the blue.
He smoothed down his tangled hair, trying his best to make it look slightly more presentable as he looked around, searching the beach for his bandmates. There were no structures visible for miles, no hotels, nothing. just a never-ending wall of palm trees and bushes.
