The boys awoke that morning to another lovely breakfast and started the day feasting on the assortment of fruits. "There's something so nice about eating all this wild, exotic fruit" Gustav spoke as he chewed on the thick slices of mango. "Sure, the berries back home are great, but this fruit is pure and ripe, produced by nature itself" Tom and Georg hummed in agreement, mouths full of fruit.
Bill sat quietly, fiddling with the small bouquet of flowers in his hand. He couldn't stop thinking about the girl, couldn't stop thinking back to her at the stream, couldn't stop picturing her body. He quickly shook his head, trying not to think about it any longer. He lounged on the beach, watching as the boys attempted to spear fish again. It was quite entertaining to watch, and made Bill laugh a great deal.
Tom, Georg and Gustav would spend 10 minutes arguing with each other, then freeze like statues the moment they spotted a fish, then all three of them would lunge forward to spear the fish, creating a great deal of splashing and usually scaring the creature away. Then, another 10 minutes of arguing would follow.
"I got one! I got one!" Georg whooped, proudly showing off his catch. A decent sized fish that could be shared equally between them for lunch. The three boys raced back through the shallows and up the beach to start a fire, getting excited about cooking the fish. Bill glanced over his shoulder at the edge of the jungle, debating on whether he should go looking for the girl again or not.
He looked back over at the boys and decided to slip away whilst they were busy starting the fire and preparing lunch. He quickly got up and snuck off into the jungle unnoticed. The jungle seemed much less threatening during the day time with the sunlight beaming through the canopy of trees and all the birds flying about.
He followed the same trail he did last night, eyes scanning the area for a sign of the mystery girl. He soon came across the small stream she had bathed in last night, the boy flushing when the memories of last night came to mind. He bit down on his lip, shaking his head to get the arousing thoughts off his mind. He quickly crossed the shallow stream and hiked his way up the short sandy hill into the new and foreign part of the jungle he had not explored yet.
The jungle grew thicker past the stream, with a whole plethora of new trees and plants he had not seen before. Tall, thick trees with long hanging vines, plants and trees with strange looking fruits growing from them, and many colourful flowers. Bill threw a glance over his shoulder, a nervous pit growing in his stomach. He didn't want to go too far, for he might get lost. He headed over to a bush covered in small purple flowers, picking handfuls of them and shoving them into his jeans pocket.
He picked a petal off the flowers every few steps, dropping it onto the ground to create a trail to help him find his way back home. Bill paused to take a quick rest, sitting down beneath a shady tree by his flower trail. He breathed deeply, leaning back against the tree trunk. He stared up at the canopy above him, listening to the calls and cries of the birds as they travelled through the canopy.
