10. Fear

(something terrible and tragic is about to happen <3)

Bill held your hand in his, the two of you walking along peacefully through the jungle, the warm rays of the sun shining down on you through the canopy of the trees. You didn't need to say a word, the two of you happy enough to walk in silence, content with each others presence. You smiled to yourself, laying your head on Bill's shoulder as the two of you walked close together, headed towards your destination. Your Pa and the three boys had gone to a small neighboring island in the lagoon on a raft they had been building for a month now to scavenge for items and to hunt, not planning on returning until tomorrow. Bill had of course chose to stay with you, later suggesting that you two could go over to the other side of the island to spend the day.

After a little while of walking, you finally reached the northern side of the island, a place you didn't really go to often unless for scavenging. there was nothing but rock pools that you couldn't wade in due to the stone fish, your dad had forbidden you from going in the water there. You stepped onto the rocks, used to the burning sensation of the rocks beneath your feet, Hot from the sunlight. Bill hissed in pain, groaning as he struggled to get used to the burning sensation on the base of his more sensitive feet, his hand tightening around yours as you laughed. 

You hopped and skipped from rock to rock, used to the terrain and getting around the rock pools. You and Bill explored and played, crouching down to see what Sea creatures you could see in the Rock pools, chasing each other across the rocks as your laughter echoed around, the joyful sounds mingling with the crashing of the waves on the reef. The sea was much too rough to go for a swim, so the two of you simply enjoyed yourselves on the rocks, scavenging for any lost or washed up items. 

"Ooh, look!" You exclaimed, picking up a vintage pocketwatch. it was broken, but made of real gold, as it still looked to be in good condition! "Wow!" Bill exclaimed, gently taking the pocketwatch from you as he admired it, his fingers tracing the cracks in the shattered glass of the Pocketwatch. it must have belonged to a Rich man from the Victorian times, who lived a lavish life of riches and expensive items such as pure gold pocket watches! You watched Bill with a smile on your face, seeing just how much he liked it. "You can have it Bill, since you love it so much!" Bill smiled widely, pulling you into a happy hug as he kissed the top of your head. "Thank you Y/N" You smiled back, going up on your tippy toes to peck his lips, giggling as you saw the crimson blush on Bill's face. 

The two of you scavenged on the rocks, collecting all sorts of items that you stored in the woven basket you had brought along with you. Seashells and pretty rocks, the vintage gold pocketwatch and a gorgeous Victorian necklace, some rags and old shirts, a lone fork and a beautiful silver backed Mirror with a few cracks around the edges.

Bill sat back against a tree, you sat between his legs as he hugged you against his chest, the two of you watching as the waves crashed over the reef in the distance, the wind blowing a gentle breeze as the two of you relaxed under the shade of the tree, having a little rest as you ate some ripe mangoes you had picked on the way to the rocks that morning. Bill sighed in contentment, gently kissing the bare skin of your neck as you giggled and squirmed. "You're tickling me, Bill!" you laughed, turning around to look at him. He simply grinned, leaning forward to kiss you, cupping your cheek in his hand as his soft lips brushed against yours affectionately, his arm pulling you closer and closer to him.
