Amy found herself alone at the beach after escaping from everyone. Despite it being nighttime, the warm summer breeze gave the illusion that it was still daytime. The beach was empty.

Sitting on the sand close to the water, she hugged her knees and pondered the events of earlier with Sonic. Part of her believed her recollections, but the other half wasn't as sure. She realized she didn't know who Sonic was, despite her friends being familiar with him. She wondered why she couldn't remember or know him.

As Amy reminisced about Sonic's earlier words, she realized that she had opted for the second portal. However, she was unsure of its significance. Sonic seemed upset, which made her wonder if there was a reason behind her decision. She felt a sense of emptiness inside that she couldn't explain.

"Why do I feel this way about him?" Amy asked herself. She only felt this way whenever she thought about him. He was unfamiliar to her yet something inside felt familiar about him. But nothing came to mind no matter how much she tried to recall his memory.

Amy noticed that he was brave and had a strong bond with his friends. Additionally, she thought he was attractive. Shaking her head, Amy started to play with the sand. After a while, she heard some noise behind her and turned her head to see Sonic nervously waving with an awkward smile.

"H-Hey Amy." Sonic greeted.

"Hi." That was all Amy said.

"Can I join you?"

She nodded, turning her head back facing the ocean. Sonic sat next to her, making himself comfortable. There was an awkward silence for neither of them knew what to say for a while. Finally, Sonic was the first to initiate a conversation.

"I was looking for you everywhere." He said.

"Really? I didn't end up going far. I felt like the beach was a nice spot to be at and just think."

"What were you thinking about?" Sonic wondered.

"About what happened earlier and trying to understand what you meant by selecting the second portal." Amy shared.

"Oh..." Sonic noticed she was lost in thought after he mentioned something, and he realized she had no memory of her decision. However, after discovering her letter, he better understood her situation. He was uncertain about whether he should inform her, as it might affect her desires and reasoning behind her actions.

"It's fine though. I've gotten over it." Amy said, shrugging.

"Amy, I wanted to apologize about earlier. I didn't understand it, but I do now."

"What do you mean you understand it now?"

"Uh, I just thought about it more and realized you were right."

"I'm sorry too." Amy apologized.

"What for?" Sonic asked, not expecting an apology.

"Not sure. I just feel like I need to."

"So, am I really not familiar to you?"

Amy shook her head and said, "I don't remember ever seeing you. However, our friends say otherwise."

"Well, just believe me when I say that we were best friends."

The way Sonic spoke caused her heart to skip a beat. His confidence and sincerity were evident in his tone, and his smile made her thoughts vanish momentarily. On the other hand, Sonic experienced a ticklish sensation in his stomach - something he had experienced a few times. Though it bothered him, he couldn't help but relish the sensation. It was typical of Amy to put her friends before herself. He loved how she always tried to make others happy and the more he took the time to think back about her, he couldn't believe how he didn't realize his feelings for her sooner.
