{Kion's POV}
It's about to be dusk and I have a plan for this attack.
"Lion Guard! Night Pride! Come here. I have a plan I think will work."
The Guard and the Night Pride came and I started telling them the plan "Fuli, Azaad. When they come, run around them and kick up as much dust as you can. You can pick off stragglers but your main priority it to keep that dust cloud up."
"Okay." They said
"Ono, Anga." I said turning to face them "You will stick up and direct us to nearby enemies. Like Fuli and Azaad, you can fight some, but you should stick to guiding us."
"Okay, Kion." they said
"The rest of us will split into groups of 2 and pick them off one by one. Beshte, Bunga. You 2 are a group. Surak, Nirmala. You 2 are together. Kopa. Nguvu, you 2 are a group. Baliyo, you're with me. When Fuli and Azaad kick up the dust, we will all run in and separate. Leave Cheka for last. He's the strongest one and won't go down as easily as the others."
Everyone nodded and we went to the mountain pass to meet Cheka.
"Hello again, King Kion." Cheka said menacingly
I growled at him before turning to Fuli and Azaad. "Fuli, Azaad! Go!"
On my signal, Fuli and Azaad started running around Cheka's pride kicking up as much dust as they could.
"Everyone! Stand your ground! Do not let yourself be jump-scared!" Cheka ordered
"Lion Guard, Night Pride, Let's go!"
Anga and Ono flew into the air above the cloud and the rest of us ran in and spilt up. I started hearing faded screams from enemy lions.
"Kion! Behind you!" Ono screamed
I turned around and saw a lion sneaking up. I quickly dispatched him. "Thanks Ono."
"Shani!" I heard Cheka order. "Get the traitors. No mercy!"
I heard paw steps among the sea of cries and thuds.
"Nguvu! Your left!" Anga yelled
Nguvu roared
"Thanks." Kopa said
"Find those birds. End them!" Cheka growled
"With pleasure, my liege."
"Anga! Above you!" Ono yelled
"Huh? Aah!" Anga yelled
Anga plummeted to the ground, she landed in front of me. "Anga?! Are you okay?!"
"Ugh, my wing." Anga struggled, her wing was covered in blood
I turned to Baliyo "Baliyo, I need you to take Anga to the Tree and tell Makini to help her."
"What about you?" Baliyo asked concerned "Fuli said that someone has to watch you when your scar is acting up."
"Ono will keep an eye on me." I reassured him "Now go."
Baliyo grabbed Anga and ran off "Ono! Help Baliyo out of the cloud."
"But, what about the others?" Ono asked
"They can survive for a little bit. Get Anga to Makini. Now!" I ordered
"Okay Kion." Ono relented. He flew after Baliyo
"Beshte! Bunga! Do you see a bird in the sky?" I asked
"Yeah, we do." Beshte said
"Where's Ono? And Anga?" Bunga asked
"Anga is injured. Ono and Baliyo are bringing her to Makini." I explained calmly "Can you two get the bird in the sky right now?"
"Of course we can Kion!" Bunga yelled "Big B, when I say the word, throw me into the sky!"
"Okay."
"Readyyyyyyyyy..., now!"
"Twende Kiboko!" Beshte yelled with effort
"Zuka Zama!!!" Bunga yelled excitedly
I saw Bunga pop out of the dust cloud and land on the bird's back. "Hey! Get offa me!"
"No way. You hurt my friend. Also I want to know what it feels like to crash down into the ground!" Bunga exclaimed "Ready?"
"No NO!!!" The bird screamed
The bird started twirling and flipping in the air. Then he started to fly down rapidly, screaming all the while. Bunga was yelling like this is what he wanted to do his whole life. Bunga jumped off at the last second while the bird crashed into the ground in front of me. I wasted no time and I put my paw on his wing so that he couldn't fly away.
"Who are you?! And why did you attack my friends?!" I questioned angrily
"You are not my master." The bird calmly said "I will tell you nothing."
I unsheathed my claws "Then say goodbye to your wings."
The bird looked on in terror "Okay, okay! I'll tell. I am an Indian Peregrine Falcon, my name is Hawke. And I attacked that eagle because I was ordered to. Cheka saved my life, I swore loyalty to him!"
"You don't attack my friends again, or you WILL suffer for it." I growled
"Okay! Okay!" Hawke screamed in terror. I took my paw off of him and he flew away. When he flew away, Ono and Baliyo came back.
"That lion, he's crazy!" I heard Hawke scream
"That does not matter." Cheka growled "I gave you an order and you failed! You know the punishment."
"No, no please! I'll do anything, please! Please, give me another chance, I will never fail you again!" Hawke begged
"We made a deal, and I don't give second chances." Cheka growled
I heard a bloodcurdling scream and then silence.
"Kion! Behind you!" Ono screamed
I couldn't turn around before I felt claws tearing through my back.
"Aargh!" I screamed in pain. I turned around to face who clawed me. A lioness, about Nguvu's age. Scars everywhere, like she grew up in war. Three scars run down her face, a part of her ear gone, she's half blind. Her fur looks like Grandmother Sarabi's. Without her scars, I think she would look just like Grandmother Sarabi with brown eyes.
"Who are you?!!" I growled
"Who I am is not important!" The scarred lioness screamed back "I will make you pay for everything you've done."
"What did I do?!" I asked
"Shani!" Nguvu yelled "Your battle is with me! You do not get to run away."
"Master Cheka told me to go wild."
"Father did not tell you to fight him, Father told you to fight me." Nguvu retorted
Shani stopped, she stared at the scar on Nguvu's eye. Finally she spoke "You called him Father, you never called him Father. Nguvu, what happened to you? When did you become like this?"
Nguvu didn't say anything, he looked down, as if disappointed in himself. Shani looked on in disbelief, you could see, hear, and feel the concern she felt. Like Nguvu and her were once so close. So close you would never see them apart. The tension was so stiff that you could snap it in two. These two knew each other for so long. It feels like any moment now, Nguvu would run away, he told me about Shani. Even then, I knew he cared about Shani more than just friends. Nguvu finally picked his head up, he didn't speak, he just jumped. He pinned Shani to the ground. He growled, and she growled back. Loud enough for everyone to hear. She kicked him off and got up. Nguvu raised his paw into the air, claws out. "I'm sorry, Shani." He slapped Shani across the face so hard that Shani went flying. When she landed, she landed with a thud. Nguvu ran after, he lowered his head, and hugged Shani's unconscious body. "I'm so sorry, Shani, I never wanted this to happen."
"Kion! That's everyone!" Ono yelled
"Thanks Ono!" I yelled back "Fuli, Azaad! Stop running!"
Fuli and Azaad stopped running and when the dust cloud cleared all of us surrounded Cheka. And all of his lions were lying on the ground, defeated.
"Well well well. I know when I've been beaten. Lions! Get up and leave!" Cheka ordered "Know this young king. The climax it approaching. And when it comes, I will get the justice I deserve."
"Justice? You come to my kingdom and attack, and you talk about justice?" I question "You have no right to wish for justice, not after what you've done!"
"Things aren't always what they seem, cub. You will learn the hard way. I always get what I want." Cheka taunted before turning around and running away. The other lions got up and ran after him.
"Is everyone okay?" I asked, turning around to face everyone.
"Yeah, I think we are all fine, except Anga." Ono said
"What happened to Anga?" Surak asked Ono
"A bird hit her out of the sky. Baliyo and Ono brought her to Makini, that is where she is right now." I explained
"Oh?" Nirmala asked "I should go and check on her."
Nirmala walked off and Varya approached me "Me and my cubs are ready to go."
"Okay, good luck."
