Akshara was curved like a crumbled paper in her bed as she silently sobbed. Her heart was aching because of Abhimanyu and for Abhimanyu. She wanted nothing more but to be with him, hold him, and tell him how much she misses him, his touch, and everything about him. But she just couldn't. She wasn't able to make the first move.

It had been a week since Akshara and Abhimanyu last talked. The faculty board had a meeting with Abhimanyu about the whole scenario, but Dr. Mahima did everything in her power to keep the matter under covers. As a result, Abhimanyu apologized on his behalf and requested the board not to drag Akshara into this matter, taking all the blame on himself, as he didn't want to stress her out during the exams.

The last time Akshara saw Abhimanyu was four days ago when he came to give his resignation letter as Dr. Mahima was back as a lecturer in the college. They both had shared an intense eyelock when Akshara saw Abhimanyu's heart break through his eyes as she ignored him when he tried to approach her. No matter how much she wanted to run into his arms, she knew they both needed time to sort out things.

"Akshu, look, I've brought your favourite snacks! I know how much you love to munch all the junk during your study sessions." Aarohi entered her sister's room with a tray of snacks in her hand as she placed it by her bedside.

"Aaru, please leave me alone. I don't wanna eat." Akshara sniffed as she sat up and rested her head on the headboard of the bed, bringing her knees close to her chest as she buried her face in  her arms.

"Abhimanyu called." Aarohi told, and Akshara's head was quick to snap in her direction as she looked at her with narrowed eyes.

"He was asking about how your exams are going. He's worried about you, Akshu. Talk to him." Aarohi suggested and immediately saw her sister's face scrunched.

"Why didn't he call me directly? I'm not going to make any move first. He's the one who pushed me away." Akshara was now more than frustrated at her boyfriend for not having the guts to call her directly.

"Maybe he's scared of you." Aarohi said, and Akshara looked at her with wide eyes.

"Baba, I didn't mean it like that. What I'm saying is maybe he's scared of your reaction. Maybe he's scared of hurting you. I guess he just needs a little reassurance, Akshu. Remember you told me how he reassures you even before the words are out of your mouth?" Aarohi asked as Akshara nodded with moist eyes.

"I just miss him so much, Aaru." Akshara wrapped her arms around her sister as she cried.

"It's okay to miss him, Akshu. And it's okay if you need some time for yourself. Do you remember what mumma used to say?" Aarohi gently separated herself from Akshara as she cupped her face, wiping away the tears from her cheeks.

"If you ever feel like your heart is breaking, take a deep breath and give your heart a break from everything instead of further breaking it." Aarohi repeated Naira's words as both the sisters now had tears in their eyes.

"I love you, Aaru. Thank you for always being there for me." Akshara kissed her sister's cheek before composing herself and wiping away her tears.

"I love you more!! Now here, eat some of your favourite red velvet cupcakes. Don't get frosting up your nose." Aarohi laughed, reminding Akshara of the time when Abhimanyu had wiped away the frosting from her nose and lips with his kisses.

"What happened?" Aarohi asked as she stood up from the bed. Akshara shook her head with a small smile.

"Also, Abhimanyu is coming over with Neil and Manjiri aunty in an hour. We're finalizing all the details for my engagement party this week. I know you still have one more exam, but please do try to come downstairs today. It's been a week since you've sat with us." By saying this, Aarohi left her room, leaving Akshara to deal with her thoughts.

"Bade papa, you would look great as Sunny Deol!" Neil suggested as everyone shared a laugh. Both the Goenkas and Birlas sat in the main hall, deciding on the costumes for Neil and Aarohi's bollywood themed engagement party.

"Arey beta, you just wait and watch!" Manish replied with a smile as everyone hooted.

"Don't even dare to ask what Neil and I are wearing. It's a surprise!" Aarohi warned as she caught Abhimanyu looking here and there in search of Akshara.

"Abhimanyu, have you decided on anything yet?" Aarohi asked, and Abhimanyu was quick to shake his head in a no.

"Let me tell you all anyways, Akshu has chosen the hottest character for my engagement party." Aarohi said, trying to get a reaction from Abhimanyu, which she got in no time as he looked at her and immediately blurted.

"Which character?" He asked, and everyone laughed at his desperation, making him embarrassed as he scratched the back of his neck, knowing well that now literally every family member know about the brewing romance between them.

"Y'all are having a good time without me, huh?" And there she was, the person he was dreading to see since days.

"Oh madam, you're the one who ditched us for your books." Kairav commented as he pulled Akshara to sit with him.

"Akshu, beta, how are you! We all miss you so much. Especially your Shivu. Visit him soon, okay?" Manjiri kissed Akshara's forehead, and she smiled at her.

"Just busy with my exams, Aunty. I will see him soon." Akshara said, and her eyes immediately met Abhimanyu's, who was already looking at her with pleading eyes.

"I... I'll go find something to eat." Akshara said and stood up to leave the kitchen as Abhimanyu looked on. Aarohi quickly signalled Abhimanyu to go after her, and he nodded before quietly following Akshara into the kitchen.

Akshara was busy looking into cabinets when she felt a pair of two strong hands grab her waist from behind as she immediately relaxed into him, knowing it was Abhimanyu. His chin was placed on her shoulder as he pressed his cheek with her.

"Are you still mad at me?" Inhaling her scent, he asked as his hot breath sent shivers down her spine.

"Yes." She breath, he was making it hard for her to stay composed.

"Please don't be mad at me." He pleaded like a five year old, melting Akshara's heart in an instant, but she decided to play a little as she unwrapped his arms and turned around to look at him.

"Dr. Abhimanyu, I get it that you're very good at seducing, but you won't get my forgiveness that easily." Akshara tried to show her anger as Abhimanyu smirked at her failed attempt.

"So what does Dr. Akshara wants me to do?" He raised an eyebrow at her, and she immediately blushed at him calling her a doctor already.

"Figure it out yourself." She said and started to walk away before he held her hand and stopped her.

"At least tell me what you are wearing for the engagement party." He asked.

"You've to wait till the engagement party to find out and that Dr. Abhimanyu is your punishment." By saying this, she ran out of the kitchen, as Abhimanyu sighed at the way that woman was driving him crazy.

Happy Reading!!

Really wanted to show a good bond between Akshara and Aarohi. I've always adored them both together.
