Ryujin's POV
"Ms. Shin, your father said you should be ready by five and pick up Ms. Lee from their house" one of my so-called "bodyguard" said
I only gave him a nod as a reply
I checked the time and it's already three. I should be preparing by now. I don't want my dad to wait and got mad at me
Before I take a bath, I left Ryeong a message that I'll be picking her up at six.
After that, I took a quick bath and dressed according to the place and event that we're about to go. I was doing my makeup when I heard my phone rang
It's Ryeong....
'Hey' I said
'I'm ready. You can pick me up now' she said
'I'll be done in 5 minutes. Just wait for me okay?' I asked and she responded with a humm
'Drive safely' she said
'I will'
She sure is fast.
I'm done with my makeup and went straight to the parking lot where my car is located. As usual, there's a bodyguard following me.
I just sigh at the thought of my own parents don't trust me anymore, making these bodyguards follow me around wherever I go.
I got inside my car and started my engine. Ryeong's house is not that far from mine so it'll only take me for about 15-20 minutes of driving before I get there.
While on the road, I can't stop thinking why Yeji unnie's not messaging me. It's been hours already when she left me a message saying that she's going out with Wonyoung and Yujin and haven't message me again.
Oh well, maybe they're just busy having fun
I miss them
I miss Yeji unnie
I miss hanging out with them
I miss the old me
I miss the times when Ryeong and I used to treat each other like sisters
I miss my childhood friend......
And I hope everything will be back to normal but now I can't do anything but to trust Yeji unnie and her plan
I arrived at the Lee's residence and rang their doorbell
A maid quickly opened the gate for me
I went inside the house and saw Ryeong going down the stairs. She's wearing an all black sparkly fitted gown which made her milkish skin stand out
"Sorry if I made you wait" I said as she approached me
"No worries. Besides, you told me you'd pick me up by six. And it's only 5:47 so no need to worry" she said and gave me a smile
"Let's go?" I asked and she nodded
We head outside and I opened my car door for her just like the usual
We left their house and as I was driving she broke the silence
"It's a private event right?" She asked
"That's what I heard. The only people invited are the shareholders from both of our company" I answered
After that small talk, the two of us became quiet again. We never have talk to each other the way we used to eversince the agreement happened. It hurst me to see her like this. It's not her fault our company's going bankrupt but she's also here. Suffering with me and my family
"Uhmm... Yuna" I said and she immediately looked at me
"Yeji unnie said Yuna hasn't been hanging out with them and she's always avoiding them" I said and I took a glance at her who's now fidgeting her fingers
"But guess what" I said
" Lia unnie convinced her to come with them. And if I am not mistaken, they may be having fun right now" I continued
"That's good to hear." She said
"Yuna" she paused
"She's been very nice to me. She always prioritize my happiness. She prioritize me over herself" she said
"But I hurt her" she continued
"And she didn't deserve that" she said and I took a glance again and saw her eyes starting to fill with tears
"But you love her right? And that love is genuine and true, right?" I asked and she nodded nonstop
"I do. I do love her with all my heart." She said
"She became my best friend, my comfort, my safe zone, and my home" she said while wiping her tears
"If given a chance..... do you want her back?" I asked as I stopped the car
"Yes" she said confidently
"Then trust me okay?" I asked and gave her a huge smile which made her confused
"What do you mea---" she was cut off when someone knocked on the door
"We should get down now. They're probably waiting" I said and unlocked my car door
The truth is, I don't really have a plan and I'm just putting my trust to my girlfriend whom I know, will never let me get married unless she's my bride
Ryeong and I now head inside the venue and both our parents greeted us with warm hugs
"It's good to see you dear" my mom said as she gave Ryeong a hug
"You two must be hungry. There's a table in front reserved for the two of you. Feel free to eat whatever's on the menu" Ms. Lee said and point at the table in front
Well I guess that's our seat then
As we were walking towards our table, a man bumped into me and quickly apologize.
That man looks familiar
I didn't get the chance to look at his face more since I'm with Ryeong right now
"Are you okay?" She asked and I nodded
We arrived at our table and the waiters started serving us food
The two of us ate peacefully not until my dad got on stage and took the mic
"Good evening everyone" he said and smiled at everyone
"I am very happy that all of you came and celebrate this special day with my family and the Lee's" he said
Oh my God. Don't tell me......
"I am pleased to announce that the Shin's and Lee's company will be in joint venture as the heir to both our companies will tie a knot very soon...." He said
I looked at Ryeong and she looks like she's about to cry
I'm sorry
I wish Yeji unnie's here. She definitely knows what to do in this kind of situation
Now both our parents are standing on stage sharing cheers with one another as the guests clap their hands
"Can we invite Ryujin and Chaeryeong here on stage please?" My dad said
I don't have a choice but to stand up and offered my hand at Ryeong. She hesitated to take my hand first but I gave her a reassuring smile that everything will be fine
She took my hand and we both joined our parents at stage
Everyone was having fun not until a group of people barged in the venue. I can't quite see who they are since the entrance is far from the stage plus the lighting affects my sight
"I hope I'm not late for the party...."
