3. Family Dinner

After i got out of the water i headed upstairs to leave my stuff there and to freshen up, i walked down the hall to one of the last rooms and opened the door, it all looked the same, with the sunlight shining in through the balcony's glass door, my old spider-man pillow that jere gifted me two summers ago because i had a huge spider-man phase, all the photos hanging up with the best memories i can remember, every important thing to me is in this room, that's what's so special about it.

I took a quick shower to get the chlorine off my body, i unpacked a little and then got ready to eat dinner. I just wore some biker shorts and a baggy shirt because its not like I'm anywhere special tonight this is what she wears, if you don't like it feel free to imagine something else:

I went down to the dinner table to see Jeremiah and belly sitting there waiting for the rest, i sat on the edge next to jere, once i walked in they were laughing about something the whole time and i think jere was flirting with her, for some reason it made me want to puke and drown.
„ hey, nice shirt " he said with a wink making me smile remembering that he got me this shirt on my last birthday „ thanks got it from some weird annoying dude " i replied making him roll his eyes while smiling

Eventually everyone came down for dinner, Steven and jere we're just on the phone the whole time laughing „ Steven, i swear to god if you look at that Phone one more time, I'm putting it in the screen basket. " Stevens annoyed face me almost laugh, its just always so funny when he's annoyed and that's exactly why i annoy him on the daily basis, partly also because that's how i show my love but i would never admit that to him

„ it's just because we want to see your beautiful faces, can dinner be a screen-free zone ? You know ? Like the olden days " Susannah said making only my mom laugh. Like always Steven didn't listen either way so Jeremiah grabbed his phone and threw it over to a chair then flexing his muscles around, „ typical jere" i whispered to myself while looking down and smiling „ Dude are you kidding me ? " Steven protested „ Boom nailed it" Jeremiah said while still flexing

„ okay, okay, okay we get it, you've been working out " Steven said making belly scoff and say „ oh, you're just jealous because Jere has a better body than you. " bitch she didn't not just say that stop I'm flabbergasted
„ uh, no, actually, its all about the lean look now. Otherwise you can't wear tailored suits" Steven stated making us all laugh „ tailored suits " Conrad repeated while smiling lightly
" when have you ever worn a tailored suit ?"
„ i haven't. Yet. " he answered with the yet a little delayed

Then the table got quite once we found out he had quit football, i know he was only playing it to please his dad but i didn't think he would ever quit, that's unlike him.
„ well if you're not playing football then what are you gonna do all summer ?" My mom asked and Conrad just shrugged not knowing the answer for that. The rest of the night wasn't that interesting except for the moment that susannah gave me and belly an invitation to be debutantes

„ is that the thing where the girls wear white dresses and curtsy ? " belly asked confused
„ its when a girl comes of age and is presented to society. I know it sounds silly but i swear it's fun, girls come from all over New England to cousins just to be a part of it, you two will make so many new friends " Susannah explained
„ i cannot believe you are still holding on to this archaic dream " my mom said while getting up to get another bottle of champagne.

„ no it used to be about finding a husband, but now it's about networking. They teach you leadership skills, like how to market yourself and it benefits charity. It's um like a bat mitzvah " she finished explaining. While she was still talking i looked at Conrad and he had the funniest disgusted face ever, god i love looking at peoples face expressions at random moments, it's always so funny for no reason.

„ it is not like a bat mitzvah, there is nothing religious about a debutante ball " my mom said after chuckling „ the whole deb scene is bullshit , its for sheep " Conrad said „ yeah " Jere said agreeing „ No, its not its when a girl has a coming of out, it's a formal recognition she's reached maturity " Susannah explained again making Steven laugh and spit out his food on his plate „ Oh, sorry I'm sorry. Mature? Belly and izzy ?" Steven said making me kick him under the table hard enough for him to grunt in pain

„ a couple months ago you had a cat funeral, you made us all wear black " Steven told belly „ shut up Steven, i saw you crying in your room. " belly said making me chuckle „ wait, Mochi died ? Dang I'm sorry you guys " Jeremiah said then he turned to me and whispered „ why didn't you tell me anything?"
„ i just didn't wanna talk about it " i answered and he gave me a half smile and put his hand on my thigh to comfort me.

Once we got back to the conversation belly said she would think about becoming a debutante so i said i would too, i mean why not its better than laying in bed reading Wattpad all day.
After dinner i went upstairs and i was gonna get in my pyjamas and do my skin care so that i don't forget it later until i got a text from Jere

I might actually go somewhere special tonight after all.
