The rain will come, and so will the hail.

The darkness will fall, and so will the stars.

That's just how the world works.

The thieves will steal, and the wolves will kill.

The crows will scavenge, and the sun will burn.

That's just how the world works.

I've seen death, and I've seen danger.

I've seen sorrow, and I've seen pain.

I've seen the world work.

But though it may be cruel, and it may be hurtful.

It may also be healing, loving and caring.

That's also how the world works.

It can hold you, and it can mend you.

And though it may seem to break you, it can also build you stronger than before.

That's how the world works.

We may conquer, but we will never posses.

We may learn, but we may never truly understand.

That's just how the world works.

We may name it, but we will never own it.

We may take over, but we will never control it.

That's just how the world works.

There may be darkness, but the light does come.

There may be persecution, but a savior did come.

Because He made His world, so He could live in you and me.

That's why the world works.
