Here is a recipe for the cinnamon apple syrup Hermione made for breakfast in the last chapter.
Disclaimer: I cook with my heart and my stomach, not my brain. If you make this and it turns out nasty, it's definitely because you didn't put enough love into it and certainly not because I can't be bothered to dust off my measuring cups.
Serves 2.
- 1 green apple, (peeled if you wish) and diced into medium chunks
- A splash of water (omit for thicker syrup)
- About a cup of granulated sugar
- A teaspoon-ish of lemon juice
- A healthy shake of cinnamon
- A fat pat of butter (I used vegan butter but whatever you have)
Toss it all into a small pot and simmer on medium heat until the apples are soft, about 10 minutes.
Stir occasionally to avoid burning.
Use it to top pancakes or any pastry you like. Heavenly with whipped cream or ice cream. (Mine melted but it was still fantastic.)
(I feel like one of those recipe bloggers, making you all read a 120,000 word novel just to finally get to the recipe at the very end.)
