The closing program ended successfully. The next day, colorful decorations dominated every street and every corner of our town. Ramdam na ramdam ko ang pagkasabik ng mga tao para sa evening activities ng Fireworks Festival.
"How do I look?" Jacob asked, doing some poses at the fitting room.
Sinamahan ko siyang kunin ang susuotin niyang costume sa Lavender Plum Apparel, a tailoring shop. A place where most students got their costumes for Fireworks Festival. It was owned by Jacob's family. His mother was a designer, and she also designed most of the costumes we used in our previous project like stage plays and films.
"Tita Janice really knew what color fits you," I said, fixing his long coat. He was wearing a costume in a pitch-black color. His inspiration was Edward Cullen of Twilight.
"Actually, I was the one who chose the color," he said. "Ilang buwan ring pinag-isipan ni Mom kung anong klaseng costume ang babagay sa'kin."
"Vampire is an edgy concept," I said. "Mukhang pinaghandaan mo ang Fireworks Festival ngayon."
"I missed the event last year, so I need to enjoy it this time."
I was looking forward to see the reaction of every girl once they saw Jacob with his costume. Maging ang mga lalaki ay siguradong hahangaan siya, dahil kahit hindi gano'n kalaki ang kanyang katawan ay maganda naman ang kanyang tindig.
"I'll tell you a secret," said Jacob, breaking into my thoughts.
"What is it?"
"I really prepared for the Fireworks Festival because..." he brought his mouth closer to my ears. "I'm going to confess to someone tonight."
His voice was like an electricity to my ears. My heart missed a beat. Hindi ko alam kung ano ang magiging reaksyon ko sa kanyang sinabi.
"Ahm... Whoever she is, I hope she would say yes to your confession," I told him, trying my best to smile.
"Sana nga." Nakangiti niyang sabi. "But whatever will be the response of that person, I'll accept it. Ang gusto ko lang ay maging totoo siya sa sagot niya."
I didn't really like assuming, but his tone and expression said it all. Kulang na lang ay sabihin niya na ako ang tinutukoy niya. Again, I was trapped in a hot spot with him. I tried my best to control my pulse because my face might turn to red.
"By the way, I have to go now," I said and took my bag. "I also need to prepare. Sa bahay raw kami ni Juno magbibihis." I was scanning my phone, pretending I was busy texting Juno.
"Okay, Elio," he said. He dashed taking a paper bag and handed it to me.
"What is this?" I asked.
"It's supposed to be my birthday gift, but it only came yesterday. You can also add it up on your costume."
I didn't know what's inside it, but I knew it's something precious. Knowing Jacob, he knew the things that would make me happy.
"Thank you," I said, giving him a genuine smile.
"Welcome. See you at the Triangle Park later," he said and waved.
