When she announced the tour dates back in October, Eleanor immediately noticed that Taylor was coming to Newark and had planned to go. She lived about a ten minute walk from the Prudential Center and knew she had to see the singer in her elements. But then they stopped talking. They hadn't really spoken since her birthday, not even after Harry and Taylor split up. She wanted to, the timing just always seemed off with her starting the tour.
Now, there she was, staring at tickets for sale to one of Taylor's Newark shows that was only a months away. Naturally, she called her brother.
"Taylor's coming to Newark in a month." Was the first thing she said when the call connected.
"Wow. What happened to hi? Hello, even?" He joked, causing her to relax a little. "Dude you have to go."
She really wanted to, but after everything that went down, she didn't know if Taylor would even want her there. "We haven't talked in months." She simplified the situation.
Patrick knew something had happened, but he didn't press the issue. He was very confused by Taylor's sudden jump into a relationship not even a month after confessing her love for his sister to him. But he didn't say anything about it because he knew how much Eleanor loved the blonde and he knew how much it had killed her to walk away.
"Even so, you still love her." He told her. "And she loves you. She told me herself."
Eleanor shook her head. Yeah, Taylor had told her the exact same thing. Look where that had gotten them. "I'm in season." She didn't know why she was trying to get him to talk her out of it.
He scoffed. "You're a fucking Olympic gold medalist, you can take a few personal days."
There was a beat of silence as Eleanor sorted through her thoughts. She need Taylor more than she needed oxygen to breathe. But what if she showed up and was met with yet another heartbreak? She didn't think she could take that. "What if she doesn't love me anymore?" She finally admitted, her voice small.
"She does." Her brother sighed on the other end. "Look I don't know what that relationship with Harry Styles was, but I know what she told me. She loves you." Eleanor hardly believed it, but she desperately wanted to. "Get tickets. I already got mine."
Eleanor almost got whiplash. She hated how he liked to drop information casually. He loved shocking people. "You're going?"
Hawk laughed. "August tenth at Soldier field. Iz is coming too." She could practically hear his grin. "Just because you guys are being all weird, doesn't mean that Taylor and I aren't still besties."
"And you didn't tell me?" Eleanor was getting annoyed with her brother's deliberate evasion. "What the fuck?"
"Like I said, you guys are being super weird. I'm not trying to get involved in your little will they, won't they game." Her told her bluntly. She'll admit, he was definitely right. "Mom and dad even got tickets for them and Anthony in Houston."
"Great, my family are better friends to my best friend than I am." Eleanor collapsed onto her bed
"Wrong. We're better friends to your lover."
"Ew! Who the fuck says lover anymore?" She didn't deny that that's what she wanted to be to Taylor.
"I like it!" He defended himself immediately. "Now get the fuck off the phone and buy tickets to your girl's show."
He hung up shortly after that so he could get to the field. She had to get to hers too, but her practice didn't start til later.
Eleanor took his words to heart, though. If there was a shot, she had to take it.
