Fear settles in when there is uncertainty
I wouldn't be wrong if I said I'm always scared;
because I always am
Unsure, confused, and overwhelmed.
Not wanting to be a burden, not wanting to fail
so much so to the point I let my fears settle in
I let them guide me, lead me, and reign over me
Shackled to myself, I've created a cage just for me.
A cage inside of a cage I was born into.
A leash held by those whom I wish to please
A collar from the ones who make me beg on my knees.
With bloodied hands and bruised legs, I crawl in the abyss.
Clouded vision, clouded mind.
Eyes full of mist... not from wonder--just blind.
Little by little, the uncertainty of everything,
makes my achievements look small
and sure enough, fear settles in more and more.
