The night sky was glittering with millions of stars and the air was somehow familiar. Wind was blowing and the curtains were fluttering. The purple haired girl was staring up at the stars with her fingers tracing the one star dangling from her neck when a boy came up to hug her, wrapping her tightly in his embrace, hoping to hold onto her.

"Aren't you sleeping?" Groggy, deep voice murmured next to her neck. "Or do you not sleep at all?"

Her face distorted in confusion. It all seemed too familiar. The voice, too, was too familiar to mistake. She knew him and yet, she didn't at the same time.

'Who are you?' She wanted to ask, but her mouth wasn't moving at her will. Instead, she turned around and held his blurry face before tears began to fill her tired eyes. She couldn't see but she knew he was crying, too. Even more than her.

"Eunsook," he whispered, voice trembling with overwhelming emotions. "Eunsook, please," he begged, covering her hands with his, "please don't disappear... I'll watch over you, so please live."

She sobbed, placing her forehead against his. "I can't... I don't want to live without you..."

"I love you..."

She gasped and opened her eyes to the sight of her bedroom ceiling. Chest heaving and tears streaming down the sides of her face, she laid there and tried to make sense of what was happening.

A dream.

She was crying because of a dream that felt too real. It took a long while to calm her breathing but the words of the unknown guy in her dream were still lingering in her ears. But soon, she began to forget his voice and began to forget those words when she sat up, wiping her tears.

"How strange," she said to herself and yawned before checking her phone. It was thirty minutes before her alarm.

"Noo, my extra sleep," she whined and fell back down on her bed. "But that's a nice dream. How nice would it be to have someone be desperate in love like that for me..."

She tried to remember again but it was like trying to grab a puff of smoke that was slowly fading into the air. Only the stains of her tears stayed.

Failing to get more sleep, she got up with a grumble and prepared for school. Her parents greeted her and placed kisses on her forehead before her mother widened her eyes, asking, "Did you cry? Why do you look like a fish with red eyes?"

"Huh?" She frowned, running to a mirror.

"Bad dream?" Her father asked nonchalantly while her mother clicked her tongue.

"If it's a boy again, I swear-"

"It was a bad dream, okay?" Eunsook quickly interjected, definitely not wanting another lecture. "When I woke up, I was crying." Although, it was because of a boy.

As she sat down at the dining table, her mother placed a plate of fried eggs in front of her. "Eat well and stay away from boys."

She rolled her eyes and started eating. "Stop it. I'm not crazy about boys, mom."

Her father laughed out loud. "Not crazy about boys she says."

"Ugh," she grumbled and ate in silence while her parents kept teasing her. It wasn't her fault that boys kept hanging around her like fleas. No wait, that's not a good comparison. Still, her parents always caught such scenes and not to mention, her short-lived dating histories shaped her romance life into a sad pile of crap.

What she wanted and what they wanted never matched. At first, they would keep saying what she wanted to hear as if they were hypnotized, but as time went on, they would slowly change and reveal that they didn't want something more serious. As if they only fell for her appearance and couldn't resist her.

And she was growing sick of it. Her heart was crying for more genuine and pure love, but that seemed almost impossible given her experiences. That's why the dream must had made her cry, she presumed.

Her phone vibrated on the table when she was doing her makeup and her mother took a peek before shouting, "Sookie, Taehyung is here."

Eunsook finished up and said bye to her parents who once again told her to steer away from boys to which she asked if Taehyung was a girl. The two were friends for a little over a decade and their families even knew each other so it wouldn't be wrong to say Eunsook's parents didn't see him as a boy.

When she arrived to his car, he was out of it, eyes wide, biting his nails and muttering to himself like a sinner. She let herself in and grabbed his hand to put it away from his teeth. "You good, bro?"

Taehyung took a glance at her and sighed. "I'm so worried about the audition that I can't even sleep."

"Oh, the audition? If you can't do it, then who can?" She said confidently and slapped his shoulder. "Stop worrying about it and start driving. We'll be late. Eyes and mind on the road now, my chauffeur. If you crash the car, I'm killing you."

"Sheesh, thanks for the pep talk," he scoffed and started moving. Silence accompanied them as they drove to their university and the dream once again occupied Eunsook's mind, reminding her of the heavy feelings she hadn't felt for so long.

"Hey, Tae..."

"Yeah?"

She nibbled on her lips. "Nothing."

"Aww, you suck. That's such an annoying thing to do!"

It didn't seem attractive to ask about intense love from a guy who wasn't about relationships. Taehyung didn't date someone for long before, only once or twice that didn't go deeper. He wouldn't know about passion in love that well or so she thought. His focus was on his acting and lately, his impending audition.

She sighed and leaned against the headrest. At times like this, she longed for a female friend whom she could share girl talks with, but she somehow always only attracted the male population.

On the other side, there was someone who only attracted the female population but somehow made a male friend out of luck. That person had woken up from a dream in a similar situation as Eunsook. Tear stains and thumping heart that raged against his ribcage. And a lingering yearning towards someone whom he couldn't see.

"What a weird dream," he whispered to himself and rubbed his face. It was the first time he felt such a strong pull and yearning for a girl. To think it was in a dream, he couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity. "Really... so weird."

His heart was starving. His soul was crying.

But when he forgot about the dream, those emotions were drowned by reality. Because reality didn't allow us to delve deeper into ourselves.
