Your eyes fluttered open but immediately you winced at the bright light of the sun almost blinding you. At best, you protected your sight with your hand. Your eyes were still struggling to be used to the new light, a big contrast to the dark slumber you were in a few minutes ago.

As though the slightest pain in your eyes seemed to vanish, you could now feel the wind blowing your hair around, the marine air entering your nostrils and the muddy dirt under you made you take conscious of the reality.

-"Uhm, (Y/N), are you okay?" The voice of (B/F/N) made you completely leave your transe and sleepiness as you looked at them. They seemed to have woken up a whole earlier than you.

-"Oh, yes. I'm alright don't worry." You replied, smiling a bit sheepishly at them. You stretched up a bit and looked at your surroundings. You were at the border of the sea, and some ships were sailed around the area. But, no soul was seen, and no sound was heard.

-"...Where's... everyone?" You asked in confusion. Usually there would be always people walking and working around the sea, fishing, bringing back merchandises, etc... The huge navy ships next to you made it clear people were here, British as it seemed by the flags. (B/F/N) looked around as well, their eyes scrutinizing the zone. They somewhat seemed a bit fearful.

-"I don't know. But surely it doesn't mean a great thing..." They mumbled, frowning a bit. Silence came upon you, as you tried to hear any sound, but there was none. Only the waves crashing on the beach and boats. Not even seagulls were heard, like if life just had disappeared for a moment.

"It's weird..." You muttered to yourself, frowning as well. But soon, you started walking and motioned to them to come over.

-"Come, there's no point in just staying in one place." You spoke up as you started climbing up a sand dune. While you were both walked up the small hill, a  new smell triggered your nostrils.

-"Is there something burning?" (B/F/N) asked as they scrunched their nose, you too recognised the smell of smoke.

-"Surely, but it doesn't seem like a big fire." You replied, as you quickened a bit to look over the dune, it didn't smell like there was a dangerous blaze going on.

Once you both went down the hill the other side you saw there was effectively something burning, but you couldn't quite identify it. You both approached carefully the fire, even if it was small, embers could still blow around.

-"It looks like a flag." (B/F/N) noticed, you nodded in agreement it definitely was a flag. You tilted your head to scrutinize it more, but it was difficult since the flames were already devouring it.

-"It... looks like the British flag." You said as you recognised the imperial flag. (B/F/N) tilted their head before they recognised it.

-"Ah...yes it is..." They replied. Another silence fell as you both just observed as the flag slowly disappeared under the flames.

-"It doesn't seem like it was accidental. Someone burnt it in purpose." (B/F/N) remarked, their eyebrows furrowing a little as a bad feeling made its way to them. You nodded before shrugging a little.

-"It seems so. But don't forget we're in the beginning of the revolutionary years. Even if it's not now Thirteen Colonies will declare independence (We're still a few years before 1776), it's logical there's still tension." You explained your point of view, (B/F/N) didn't seem much convinced but finally gave up.

-"Alright, alright. I just... I'm afraid I changed the thing and the revolution will happen sooner because of me." They sighed out. You raised an eyebrow in confusion.
