I woke up with Kai sprawled across my chest, her soft breaths tickling my skin. She's beautiful—every damn second of the day. I'll never understand how.

Carefully, I shifted her off me and slipped out of bed to use the restroom.

Waking up with her wrapped around me like that? Yeah, I could get used to that. That's exactly the kind of life I want.

I started my morning routine, quietly getting dressed for work. Babygirl was still fast asleep, so I let her rest a little longer before gently waking her.

"Babygirl," I whispered, brushing my hand along her arm.

"Hm?" she murmured, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

"You wanna come with me to my meetings today?" I asked softly.

"Mhm," she nodded, slowly sitting up and stretching. She was still waking up, but damn, she looked gorgeous even half-conscious.

"Good morning, baby," I said, admiring her like I hadn't seen her in weeks.

"Good morning," she replied, yawning. But then her face shifted.

"Ugh, I don't feel good," she muttered before bolting to the bathroom.

I followed her in, holding her hair back and rubbing her back as she threw up into the toilet. My chest ached watching her in pain like that.

"I don't know what the hell they put in my food, but Jesus, that was awful," she groaned once she finished, rinsing her mouth and brushing her teeth.

"You sure you're okay to go to work?" I asked, not wanting her to push herself if she wasn't feeling 100%.

"I'm fine now," she said, already turning on the shower.

Once she was ready, we headed to the office together. I held her hand the whole way in. I knew people were staring, but I didn't give a single fuck. Let them look. Let them whisper. This is my woman—and I wish someone would say something slick.

After we settled in, our first meeting of the day began. Babygirl wore the cutest puffy little dress—but it was a bit too short for my taste. I shifted her seat to the head of the table so she could sit right next to me.

"Good morning, everyone. Let's get started," I said, diving into the new proposals our marketing team had prepped. The meeting dragged a bit, but I kept sneaking glances at Kai, who sat there like the prettiest thing in the world, completely unaware of how distracting she was.

Once the meeting wrapped up, Kai said she was starving and headed out to grab us some food. I returned to my office and tried to focus—until an unexpected voice broke the silence.

"Ms. Santiago, may I come in?" Celine.

One of my employees.

And unfortunately, someone I had a one-night stand with a year ago.

I hadn't spoken to her directly since, and I planned to keep it that way.

"Yeah, what do you need?" I asked, already annoyed.

"I just wanted to see if you'd like to hang out sometime," she said, walking in and making herself comfortable like she still had a shot.

I stared at her like she'd lost her mind.

"Yeah, no thanks. My girlfriend wouldn't be too happy about that," I said, standing up and leaving the office. I wasn't about to get caught up in some desperate attempt for attention.

I waited in Kai's office until she returned with food in hand.

"Oh hi, babe. What are you doing in here?" she asked, setting the bags down.

"She came to my office," I said, scratching the back of my neck. "Celine. We slept together like a year ago. She asked if I wanted to do it again, so I left."

Kai's brows lifted.

"And you mentioned me?"

"Of course, babygirl," I smirked, wrapping my arms around her waist.

"Well then, she should be gone by now," Kai said sharply, grabbing the food and heading for my office.

But when we got there, she wasn't gone.

She was in my damn office—wearing lingerie.

"Baby, don't—" I tried to stop her, grabbing her arm.

"That bitch is going to piss me off. You told her you had a girlfriend, and she still shows up damn near naked?" Kai snapped, ripping her arm from my grasp.

"Bitch, get the fuck out of her office now before I throw you out that window," she growled, fists clenched.

"Baby, don't let her get to you," I whispered in her ear, gripping the back of her neck gently to calm her. Her breath hitched instantly.

Without another word, I turned her around and bent her over the desk. If Celine wanted a show, I'd give her one she'd never forget—and never have.

I slipped my hand between Kai's legs, teasing her through her panties, earning the softest, sexiest moan I'd ever heard.

I glanced up. Celine was gone.

Good.

I slid my hand into Kai's underwear and felt how wet she already was.

"Baby, I ain't even started yet," I murmured, grinning before smacking her ass gently. She moaned loud enough for the whole floor to hear.

"Fuck me. Please," she begged.

"Of course, baby," I growled, sliding her panties down.

...

After thoroughly handling that situation, we made it through three more meetings.

By the time we were wrapping up for the day, Kai groaned, one hand pressed to her lower back.

"Ugh, my back hurts so bad," she whined.

I looked at her, brow raised. She'd been saying that a lot lately.

Something didn't sit right.

Kai

Lately, my body's been all over the place—fatigue, nausea, mood swings, and this damn back pain.

But I didn't think much of it. I've been on the pill for my horrible periods, and I'd taken Plan B once or twice just to be safe. So the idea of being pregnant hadn't even crossed my mind.

Still, something felt...off.

I ran out of clothes at Blake's, so I told her I needed to swing by my apartment. It's been mostly empty since Sasha and I started staying with our partners. But I had a reason for going back that had nothing to do with packing.

While Blake waited on the couch, I slipped into the bathroom and dug through the cabinet until I found a pregnancy test shoved in the back.

I took a deep breath, unwrapped it, and peed.

I set it on the counter and backed away like it might explode.

Seconds later, I saw them—two bold red lines.

Positive.

Fuck.

My heart started racing.

This wasn't just some scare.

This was real.

I quickly packed a bag and shoved the test deep in the side pocket I never used.

Now I had to figure out how to tell Blake.

Or if I even should.

Our relationship is still new. Still fragile.

And this? This could change everything.
