"Can I ask you a question?" Katherine asks.
"I think it's a bit to early to ask about marriage, don't you think?" My remark causes her to laugh.
"I wanted to ask what your biggest fear was." She says, lightly tapping on the rail before us.
"My biggest fear?" I ask.

"Yeah, and you have to answer truthfully." She says and I sigh.
"Trusting people." I answer honestly, looking at her. "When so many people screw you over, it's hard trust again." I watch as her smile slowly starts to fade.

"Oh." She stops tapping the rail. Her reply kind of makes me feel bad, but at the same time I wanted to give her the honest answer she wanted.
"You wouldn't understand if I explained." I add to try and lighten things up. I have second thoughts after saying this, though.

"It's fine, you're just being honest." The calmness of her voice makes me feel less bad about my reply.
"What about you—what's yours?" I use the opportunity to ask her. A few seconds go by before she answers.

"Letting people down, I guess. I for one know what it feels like to be on the bottom end of that. I wouldn't want to be the cause of that feeling first someone else." She says. I look at her hand on the rail for a second then slowly take it into mine. Her response makes me feel a bit guilty in a way. Yeah people have let me down before, but I've let others down as well.
"Now, my biggest fear is letting you down." I honestly say, grazing my thumb over her hand.
"I'm sure that you won't." She looks up at me. I look at her for a moment until she breaks eye contact to look at the view.

Katherine's POV.
"Wait here, I'll be one sec." Luke says as he lets go of my hand and I nod. Whatever this place is that Luke brought me to, it is so beautiful.

I also got introduced to another side of Luke that I haven't seen before. His previous responses made me question him a bit, but I'm not gonna let it get to my head.

Moments later, Luke sneaks a cold, silver necklace, around my neck and it has an attached charm of a dove in it.
"Aw." I smile lightly hold the dove charm as he secures the necklace.
"I hope it's not too early for gifts," Luke says. I turn around to face him.
"It's beautiful, thank you." I wrap my arms around his neck, a wide smile on my face, and he wraps his arms around my waist.

"You're welcome." He smiles as well.
"Now I feel like I owe you something." I laugh.
"Don't worry," he tilts my chin up. I open my mouth to speak but I fall silent as Luke tilts my chin up, causing me to look directly into his blue eyes. "You won't after this." He grazes his thumb over my cheek and his eyes dart to my lips.

As Luke leans into to kiss me. The wind drifted by at the same time, creating the subtle feeling of peace. Lost on the moment, we somehow managed to move all the way to Luke's car. We both smile into the kiss as Luke's back hit his car door. It took a moment for us to pull away, but as we did, the smile could not leave my face.

Luke's POV.
We stood like that for a while, before the moment led us swaying from side to side.
"You know what would make this moment perfect?" Katherine asks.

"Food?" I say and she smiles shaking her head.
"No." Katherine says as she wraps her arms around my back.
"No?" I furrow my eyebrows.
"No." she repeats as she rest her head against my chest.
"I was—" she's interrupts herself with a yawn. "I was gonna say that this moment would be perfect if Ed Sheeran was here, playing his guitar, singing one of his beautiful songs."

Believe it or not, my mother is a true fan of Ed Sheeran. No matter how polished and put together she may seem, just throw in an album and you'd see her teenage self overtake her.

"Ed Sheeran, huh?" I say and she nods. But wouldn't that be kind of awkward for him, if he was here performing a song while me and Katherine made out. The idea kind of humors me, knowing she didn't think it all the way through.

"Mmm-hmm." She hums and then let's out another yawn.
"Are you falling asleep on me?" I ask Katherine.
"Nope," She says, but her eyes tell it all.

"You sure?" I ask her as I examine her face.

"Yup. . ." She yawns again. "Okay, maybe just a little bit." She says and I chuckle.
"All right, I'm taking you home now." I begin to pull away but she pulls me back towards her.

"Can we stay like this for a bit?" She raises her head up to look at me. "I won't fall asleep, I swear." She smiles as she raises her eyebrows.
"Sure." I smile at the cute sight of her and pull her into my arms. We both have our heads turned towards the view.

"My mom knows about us." Katherine mentions after a few moments pass.
"You told her?" I ask.
"Well—she kind of already knew." She says and I furrow my eyebrows.

"How?" I simply ask.
"Remember how, at your party, you said 'a mom always knows' ...Well you were right." she says and I chuckle.

"Well that's good news, right? That she knows?" I ask and Katherine nods.
"Yeah—for you at least. when I go home, I can assure you that she'll be waiting to hear every detail about my night so yeah. . . Score." Katherine speaks in a sarcastic tone and I laugh.
...
"What a coincidence." I say after I start my car and turn up my radio. An Ed Sheeran song happened to be playing.

"See? Even fate agrees with me." Katherine smiles as she buckles her seatbelt.
"I guess so." I laugh, backing out of the area. As we drive back to main road and the music plays, faint vocals can be heard from Katherine as she quietly sings along with the song.
