chapter thirty-four: reunited

Hi guys, I know it's only November, but I'm already so excited for Christmas, I just had to start a Christmas fic.

So yeah, I published my new Joel Miller fic 𝙈𝙄𝙎𝙏𝙇𝙀𝙏𝙊𝙀 a few minutes ago. I'll try my best to finish the story shortly before or on Christmas. Feel free to stop by if you want :)

I'll also hopefully finish some other fics soon because then I would finally be able to focus on a Din Djarin or Oberyn Martell story next. I know I have a lot of Joel fics going on rn, but I guess he's just my favorite, sorry

Joel had wanted to see her again so often over the last few months. And now she was standing there and he had no idea what to say. But he could see from Ana's face that she wasn't feeling well.

"Anabella" he whispered quietly.

She looked at him nervously and immediately felt goosebumps all over her body. Fuck, no one had called her that in six months. And she missed it. Or basically, she missed Joel calling her that.

"Are you okay?" he asked again.

"Yeah" she told him. And he immediately realized that she was lying.

"Really?" he asked her to make sure.

She nodded, but stumbled a bit because she had drunk far too much. Joel stood in front of her to support her and she held on to his shoulder.

While she closed her eyes briefly, he placed his hands on the sink, left and right next to her hips.

They stared at each other for a few seconds. Nobody said anything, it was completely silent. They only heard the muffled noises from the restaurant behind the closed door.

"Shit, I'm sorry" he then whispered. He knew he shouldn't get so close to her. Not again.

He took a step back. Is he fucking crazy? he thought to himself. Why did he just go into the women bathroom?

"It's okay, but I.. I need to go" she whispered and tried to sneak past him

"I'm sorry Joel, about everything"

He just nodded and watched her open the door. But when she took a step out, he started talking again, "Sarah's getting married" he told her.

Ana stoped abruptly, "What?"

"Yeah. I was pretty surprised. But Drew is a really nice kid and I'm glad she has him"

"Drew?" she asked surprised. They're engaged?

"Yes, you know him?"

"Yeah, she met him while we were camping"

"Oh"

She looked at him again, she didn't want to leave, but she knew she had to. Her date is waiting outside. And his too.

"She wants you as maid of honor, but doesn't know if she should ask" Joel told her and Ana felt her heart start to beat faster.

She missed Sarah a lot, after all she was her best friend, since forever. But she actually thought Sarah hated her. She thought that she would never forgive her. And after all the shit that Ana pulled, Sarah still wants her as her maid of honor?

"Really?" she whispered surprised.

"Yeah, why would I lie to you?"

She stared at him for a couple more seconds, blinked once and then felt the tears coming, "I have to go, thanks for telling me, Joel. I'm glad we met again," she said quietly and left the bathroom without waiting for an answer.
