As I drove to my doctor's office, I thought to myself,
Laurent is blowing this way out of portion.
But I'll go if this visit will shut him up. I pulled up in the parking lot. Usually I make an appointment to avoid long waits. But there was only a few cars in the parking lot. So, I figured I wouldn't be here long. I walked to the front desk and signed in. I took a clipboard with a questionnaire and filled it out. I waited for fifteen minutes until my name was called. I followed one of the assistants into a room located in the back.
When we entered the room, I sat on the bed and handed her the clipboard.
"How are you, Larry?" The assistant asked.
"I'm fine." I simply replied.
"So, you're having throat irritation?" The assistant asked as she pulled up my profile on the computer.
"Yeah, but it's minor." I answered.
"Okay, how long has this been going on." the assistant asked.
"Maybe a week." I slowly replied.
"Okay, I'll need your vitals." the assistant mentioned and asked me to take off my jacket.I did what I was asked to do. She wrapped a blood pressure cuff on my arm and measured my blood pressure. Then she put two of her fingers on my wrist and timed it for a pulse reading. She also put a thermometer under my tongue. After she was done taking my vitals, she typed in the results into the computer.
"Okay, thank you so much. Please wait here. Dr. Venus will be here shortly." the assistant said and walked out the room.
My feet tapped the floor as I waited for Dr. Venus to arrive. Ten minutes later, Dr. Venus entered the room and said,
"Hello, Larry. How are you? It's good to see you."
I gave Dr. Venus a hug and sat back down on the bed.
"I'm good, thank you." I said with a smile.
Dr.Venus was one of the finest African doctors I have ever met. She's been my doctor for five years. She has great people skills. Dr. Venus took a seat in front of the computer and said,
"Based on the report you gave me, your throat is in trouble. Your vitals were good except for your temperature. The temperature was high. What symptoms are you having?"
"I usually feel fine. Since last week, I was writing songs and singing. And it's like every time I sing, my throat hurts." I explained. After she typed my response, she went to the drawer, pulled out a flat stick and asked me to open my mouth. I opened my mouth and pushed my tongue out. After she looked at my throat, she went back to the computer and typed some more.
"Dr.Venus, be real with me. Is it bad?" I asked with concern.
"From what I can see, the walls of your throat are slightly inflamed. As far as your vocals, I need to take pictures." Dr. Venus explained.
"Okay, let's do it." I anxiously replied.
"Alright, I need you to fill out these forms. And the soonest I can do this is tomorrow. Will that work?" Dr.Venus explained.
"Yes, I would like to come in tomorrow morning at nine." I requested.
"Great, I have you locked in for an appointment at nine am tomorrow." Dr. Venus happily replied. Before I left, Dr. Venus handed me a small brochure of instructions of ways to reduce pain. I thanked Dr. Venus and gave her a hug. I read the brochure and walked to the car. I put the brochure into the glove compartment and headed home.
