IT TAKES TEN TO TWELVE HOURS TO HAND-DIG A GRAVE, more if you do it in the dark. Five to six if you have someone as insane as you to help.

In the movies, their only equipment is a single shovel but in reality, it's more than that. You need a chainsaw for splitting the roots, a pick ❨ even if you don't hit rock ❩, and a measuring tape or yardstick, because the hole you dig has to be bigger than your mind's eye. The hole has to be deep enough that people or animals walking by don't smell the rotting flesh.

Miyeon had a bad, weird mystery about her. Marie could feel it deep in the hollow of her radius bone, which she broke when she was a kid.

Marie and Miyeon were alone beside the debris of blood and guts, trying to figure out what was next for them and the school.

A few more minutes passed, Miyeon going on a tangent about burying bodies, and Marie began to sweat. What the hell was she doing? Didn't one of her friends ― ex-friends ― just die? Shouldn't she be the littlest bit upset? And why the hell does she know how to properly dispose of a body?

"Why are you acting like that?" Marie was clutching her chest. "Your friend just killed himself and you're... just fine?"

Miyeon leaned further into the brick wall, glancing at Andre embracing Cate as she cried, and Jordan getting stitches. "Do you believe people have hearts?" She mumbled in an amused tone as Marie picked at the dried-up blood beneath her fingertips.

The girl said nothing for a few seconds as Miyeon concentrated on moving a gray-colored glowing orb towards her. "Huh? Do they not?"

"They don't." She pushed the orb to the side, "They have souls, but souls aren't hearts." She explained. "Brink once told me I'm the only person in this world who understands the composition of souls. After all, I change the shape of other creatures by making contact with them. All emotions are the result of the soul's metabolism."
