Early 2003

A quiet sigh fell from Amaya's glossy lips as she flipped another page of her car magazine boredly. It was a slow day at her job and she just wanted it to go by faster so she could go home and cuddle into bed, maybe she should have chosen a better job than the Video and music store that was barely frequented but oh well

Amaya or AJ to some people due to her full first name being Amaya Jade, was probably one of the only 5 colored people that lived in the city of Forks Washington, while the town people weren't openly racist or against people of color Amaya could feel when they would stare at her or sometimes would hear when they would make a comment that was borderline racist

Though she was used to it having lived in Forks for her whole life, her father Charlie Swan was a nice warm socially and man who worked as the towns Cheif of police a job he took very serious which she adored as he was practically like her best friend. Charlie when it came to his daughter was one protective son of a bitch who would literally murder anyone that hurt his daughter and Amaya would do the same if anyone messes with her father

Hearing the bell on top of the store door that signaled someone had entered Amaya spoke "Welcome to Johnny's Video and Rhythm Empire let me know if you need anything" the words fell from her lips so many times that they had little warmth to them, Amaya knew everyone in town and they knew her so the likely hood of someone coming up for help was slim to none

10 minutes had passed with Amaya starting a new magazine this one about fashion the store music lightly playing music in the back round before the person that had walked in prior had stepped to the counter, looking up boredly while moving a curl from her face Amaya was slightly surprised to see someone she didn't know a new face if you will

"How can I help you" They dark skinned girl asked now standing straight up looking at this new person she's never seen, it was a girl who looked to be about her age that was really short probably standing at 5'3 which in actuality was only three inches shorter to Amaya who stood at a proud 5'6 on a good day, she had spiky hair cut short and her style was amazing and the most noticeable thing about her was, her golden/ amber colored eyes

"My brother needs help looking for some country music and we can't seem to find it" The Girl said with a small smile, Amaya blinked still in a little shock before nodding and hopping off her little bar stool and walking around the counter normally she would have hopped over it but since the customer was new and has never been here and Amaya was wearing a skirt she decided against it plus she had manners ..... kinda
