[Newton High School]

Sharice and I are walking, "I can't believe you're abandoning me to go to that fancy school. Who am I gonna be friends with? I hate everyone else" Sharice says

"Dude, calm down. They're doing admissions this week, and I advent heard anything, so I'm probably not going, which means that I won't be going anywhere...and my heart will be crushed" I say
"Let's hope so" Sharice says

We walk up to Sam and Paige, hanging up posters, "Silent dance?" I ask

"What's a silent dance?" Sharice asks

"It's a much better way to have a dance where everyone listens to music on headphones instead of out loud" Sam says

"Drug kids started it to have raves in the woods, but turns out that they're great for people with sensory issues. Who knew that meth heads and people the spectrum had some of the same needs? Shoot. Was that insensitive to say?" She asks
"Yes" I say as Sam says, "I don't know"

"So you organized this whole thing just for Sam?" I ask
"Yeah" She says

"That's pretty cool, Paige" I say

"Yeah, well, that's what you do when you're in love" She looks at Sam, "Sam! Oh! That's the first time we've said that to each other. That's so special" She says

"I didn't say anything" Sam says

"Okay, we're gonna go" I say

"Bye" Sharice says as we walk away

[Home]

Jeremy and I are in my room, making out on my bed, when I pull away, "Paige told Sam that she loves him" I say

"She did?" He asks
"Yeah" I say
"Whoa. That's huge" He says

"I know. I mean, they've only been dating for like two seconds. For less time than us" I say

"Yeah. Okay, then. Yeah" He says

We go back to kissing then pull away then the door opens, "Whoa! Mom!" I say

"Hey, you two" She says

"Can you knock?" I ask

"Uh, not on a closed door, I can't. You know the rule...boy's inside, nothing to hide. I just made that up" She says

"That's really great" I say

She laughs, "Thank you. There's snacks downstairs...baby carrots and something I thought was hummus but tastes like vegetables" She says

"Oh, you know, actually, I should—I should probably get going. But it was real good to see you, Mrs. Gardner. And, um..." He says before he pats my shoulder

"All right" I say

He gets up, "Bye" He says

"Take a carrot for the road" Mom tells him

"Okay, I will" He says before he walks out

She sits on my bed, "So..." I groan, "...that looked hot and heavy" She says

"Oh, god" I say

"I'm just saying that we've never really had the talk. So I'm here if you want to launch right in" She says

"I'm good" I say

"Or...I could go to the library and get a book, something with diagrams, like penis drawings and..." She says

"Oh, I'm, you know—no" I say shaking my head

"Well, if you need me, I'm here" She says

She goes to walk out, "Mom?" She turns around, "I don't want to make, like, a big thing out of it...but we're not having sex. I'm not ready, so...so, yeah, you can go" I say before she walks out

She comes back in, "I just want to say one thing. I'm really glad you shared that with me" She says before she shuts the door but it opens again, "Because I always wanted a girl, and I always imagined we'd share girl stuff. And you never have with me, but I feel like we're getting closer now. And I hope that when you are ready for...sex that you will talk to me about it then, too, because it's a big decision...and it's a big moment in your life and you need to be thoughtful about it" She says

"Okay" I say

"Okay. Good bye. I love you" She says and shuts the door

[Home]

I'm in the living room on a phone call, "Yes. Great. Thank you so much. Okay. Thank you, ma'am" I say

I hang up the phone before I jump on the couch and start screaming in excitement, "What are you screaming about?" Dad asks

"I got in!" I yell

"Are you serious?" He asks

"Yeah. That was Coach Pines on the phone. She says that they want to give me a chance. They want to give me a scholarship. I'm going to Clayton Prep!" I say

"Oh, my god! Get over here!" I run over and hug him, "That's so good. I'm so proud of you. We got to call Mom and tell her the good news" We separate, "We should go to Don's Pizza like we used to when you won races. You want to go? What? What, you want to go tell your boyfriend?" He asks

"Yeah, kind of" I say giggling

"You want a ride?" He asks

"No, no. I'm too excited. I can't sit still. I'm gonna take my bike, okay?" I say

"Yeah" He says

"Thank you so much, Dad" I hug him, "I love you so much" I say
"I'm so proud of you" He says

"Thank you" I say as I walk out, "Yes!" I squeal

As I'm riding my bike, I pass by a bar to se my mom kissing another man. I don't know what to do as I see her walk away. I keep riding my bike to Jeremy's house as quickly as I can.

[Jeremy's House]

I walk into his room, as I take off my jacket, "Hey" He says

"Your sister let me in" I tell him

"You okay?" He asks

I pull him up into a heated kiss before I pull away and shut his door and kneel on his bed, "What's going on?" He asks

I take my shirt off, "Are you getting in?" I ask

"I—I—I don't know, um...are you sure?" He asks

"Yeah, I'm sure. Aren't you?" I ask

"Yeah, yeah. I just, um...wait. I just don't want things to get weird, you know, after" He says

"Yeah, me neither" I say

I pull him onto the bed and get on top of him as we start kissing. He takes off his shirt and flips us over. You know where this will lead...

[After]

Jeremy sighs, "Wow. That was really, uh...really...wasn't it?" I don't answer, "Hey, Cam...I love you...Cam?" He says

Things just got weird
