Every time the man looked back at the picture of the poor (financially too) girl's face, he would feel another pang of guilt in his heart. Yet, who could blame him? The love of his life was now dead.
He would never see her smile again. He could not hear her voice shouting out his name. He was so desperate to see her again that he would give everything just to see her for a few more seconds.
His life, his position, his soul, everything.
Just so he could say goodbye to her for one last time.
