Walking home from school under the dark sky was a norm for An Xuexi, but rare for Lin Jiayi. Lack of friends was the main reason Lin Jiayi never dallied around after school.

Seeing a car about to pass through, they consciously walked deeper into the sidewalk least the owner did not have eyes, but the black sleek car actually stopped beside them. The driver seat window rolled down, revealing Principal Mah.

"Students, are you heading home on foot?"

In Shengzhang village, any family with a car was considered rich, including the Lin family. Of course, there was also a distinction between cars. Principal Mah's car model was more of the classic type, which would blend well in cities, but it also displayed how wealthy he was.

"Yes," Lin Jiayi answered.

"Students, even if Shengzhang has a low crime rate, it's dangerous to walk home at this hour."

Lin Jiayi and An Xuexi exchanged glances. Only a fool would reject this offer!

Principal Mah casually asked where Grandma Lin went and when she would be back. The duo happily chatted, while An Xuexi scrutinized their interaction.

Lin Jiayi's house was closer, so she was dropped off first. She did not dare to have the principal drive her to the door, so she only had him drop her off nearby. She said goodbye to An Xuexi, who only gave her a bare minimum of response.

Principal Mah may place more importance on Lin Jiayi, but he could not just ignore the leftover student, right?

"An Xuexi, is it? I heard about you from your class teacher. As long as you study hard, you can leave Class 3. School is where you are given the time and opportunity to learn. With knowledge, you can go anywhere."

So Principal Mah refused to do anything? If the bully victim wanted to escape, they had to study hard to be in a different class from her bullies?

Teachers could not be counted on. Only they can help themselves.

An Xuexi really felt like laughing all of a sudden. Laugh at the world that took everything from her and still refused to let her go until she went completely crazy. Her crazed eyes stared straight at the rear mirror and meeting Principal Mah's eyes, her tone sounded much like a witch casting a curse. "It's adults that let us down."

This system had existed for years, and adults knew it. But they just let it continue, and even have a sense of pride towards it. It was a wonder if they purposely remained blind to the ugly side of the system just to let their own people get the advantages.

Villagers treating their neighbours as their own family was nothing but bullshit!

Principal Mah was not totally ignorant of what happened in his school. The hate in An Xuexi's eyes makes him uncomfortable. "Us adults are also helpless. We want things to change, but facing the majority, our advances are blocked."

"Then what's the use of being principal?" An Xuexi asked coolly.

Unlike the naive Lin Jiayi who believed the principal's words that he would solve the matter on Monday, An Xuexi was full of distrust.

An Xuexi was puzzled about why Lin Jiayi would trust adults this much when she had never had this amount of trust towards them before. That was why Lin Jiayi never asked for help from her grandparents even when the bullying became worse. Lin Jiayi could actually put her bullying to an end with just a word from her guardian. Perhaps it was the pride of the privileged that stopped her?
