JY 43 - Did she think the police would help her

The next day was another easy work for Grandpa Lin, except for his eyes that needed to read more documents with tiny fonts than before.

"There's an appointment with the Village Director today for an interview," Sister Chia reminded, not facing anyone as she said it. When a response did not appear, she glanced at Grandpa Lin. "Sir, will you be doing it as usual?"

Chief Shen raised his head from the newspaper draft print he was reading. "Oh? Interview with Village Director? I will do it. Are the questions prepared?"

Sister Chia could only hand over the prepared questions and watched Chief Shen happily heading out. "Will the Village Chief get angry?"

Sister Chia and Wen Jian turned their heads to Grandpa Lin, who was not upset that the interview was taken away. In fact, if one looked closer, they would see the anticipation on him.

"That's what I'm counting on," Grandpa Lin said.

Just as he expected, the village director donned a polite smile when Chief Shen explained why he was here instead of Grandpa Lin. When the village director heard of the reason for Lin Ke Hai's demotion as well as pity for his age, the village director's eyes flashed with ridicule.

Chief Shen does not know, but the interview was much briefer compared to how it usually goes with Grandpa Lin, and the answers were also much shorter.

As soon as the interview ended and Chief Shen was sent away, Jin Fang Jun dialled a number he had read from a phone book.

"To think the village director would call me. Are you calling to book a mahjong game with me?"

"I don't have time for the mahjong game. I just want to congratulate you and your grandson's success. I heard the newspaper company is doing well under your hands."

"I'm already retired. Everything is now managed by my grandson." Old Liang sounded proud.

"Your grandson brings a lot of changes. What impresses me the most is inviting young talents from the city and focusing on cultivating youngsters."

Old Liang started to suspect something. His relationship with the village director was just schoolmates. The one close to the village director was Lin Ke Hai, and both of them were desk mates from the start till the end of school years.

"Ah, everything is decided by my grandson now. I have no involvement with the newspaper company now, but as a grandfather, I usually advise him in a thing or two."

"Did you advise on laying off old employees like Lin Ke Hai? Liang, do you no longer need him? Just say the word so that I can recruit him before others grab the opportunity."

"...Certainly not. Lin Ke Hai will not be going anywhere." Old Liang ended the call with fire blazing in his heart. Stomping out of his house with his cane, he went to his neighbour and asked for a car ride to the newspaper company.

Despite Principal Mah's reluctance which he had displayed yesterday, he was surprisingly decisive. He announced the decision to expel Melissa in the next morning assembly after receiving ten counts of bullying complaints. The students searched for Melissa immediately after the announcement, but she was nowhere in sight. Principal Mah had kindly told Melissa about her expulsion privately before the assembly so that she could save the remaining of her dignity.

The news naturally attracted the attention onto Sherly and Jasmine. Sherly burst into anger and spewed poisonous words at everyone looking at her, while Jasmine behaved like usual, except the pressure on her pen was enough to tear the paper when she wrote.
