When Damon woke up the next morning, cuddled into Aaron's chest with the taller boys arms wrapped around his body, he felt safe. He felt good. He felt so content. As soon as he rolled over and squinted at his phone screen, he felt like shit all over again. There was a message from Josh. He was asking the smaller brunette to hang out today. To catch up like the good old days. Just like 'best friends' do. A soft sigh escaped his lips and he heard shuffling behind him. Then, strong arms slung over his hip and snaked up his chest, pulling him backward. "Morning," Aaron whispered, placing a soft kiss on the back of Damon's head.

The smaller boy dropped his phone back onto the bedside table and relaxed into the touch. "Hi," he whispered back. "Did you sleep okay?"

"Yeah. Did you?" Aaron asked.

"Yeah," Damon said quietly.

"Is that a lie?" Aaron asked curiously.

"Yeah," Damon repeated.

Aaron's grip tightened.

Damon exhaled a slow breath, trying to find the words. "Josh wants to hang out today. I don't know what to do."

Aaron's fingers gently traced circles on Damon's chest. He was quiet for a while, simply thinking. His tiredness quickly turned into seriousness and he soon spoke, ensuring that he kept his voice soft and reassuring. "You should do what feels right for you, not what you think you should do for him. If you want to see Josh and catch up, that's okay. If you're not ready, that's okay too. Just be honest with yourself."

Damon turned around in Aaron's arms to look at him directly in his eyes, his own expression vulnerable and weak. "What do I do about us, though? I mean, I really like being here with you, and I don't want to mess this up."

Aaron smiled and brushed a strand of hair away from Damon's face. "I'll be okay, don't worry. I'll just hang out at the house. I've kind of been neglecting Rex a little bit recently so it'll be nice to catch up with him too."

Damon leaned in and kissed Aaron softly, the action causing Aaron to melt. It was rare for the smaller boy to be the one who initiates the physical contact so Aaron took everything he could get. Damon had gratitude in his eyes. "Okay, I'll hang out with Josh then. Just for a while."

"Okay," Aaron said simply.

The pair shared another kiss before Damon pushed Aaron away lightly. "Shall we go and brush our teeth and have some breakfast?"

Aaron was pleasantly surprised at the smaller boys suggestion to have breakfast. Especially because the boy hardly ever ate whenever he was around Aaron. He tried to contain the pure delight that was running through his veins.

As they both got out of bed and headed to the bathroom to brush their teeth, Aaron couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. He understood that Damon needed to see Josh and sort things out with their friendship, but he couldn't deny the sense of jealousy that lingered in the background. While they stood side by side at the sink, their eyes met in the mirror. Both of their eyes glistened with admiration for each other. It was the simple emotions that fuelled their affection and desire for each other.

In the kitchen, they were joined by Sophie, Jessica and Leo for breakfast. Aaron noticed the subtle awkwardness and bashfulness in Leo's demeanour around Damon. He'd greet him happily with wide eyed and a big smile. He would occasionally stumble over his words. He'd repeatedly offer Damon more food or tea. Aaron watched as Leo couldn't help but steal glances at the smaller brunette who was sat quietly next to him with his head down for the most part. He had noticed it all, but Damon seemed oblivious to Leo's growing affection. Aaron replayed his brief conversation with Leo in his mind where he had asked if Leo liked Damon as more than a friend. He had denied it, of course. He was supposedly straight. But now, that couldn't possibly be true. Could it? Was Aaron seeing things? Was he just being possessive?
