If I were(wolf)...

20 3 2

They say I'm the devil,
a demon in disguise,
but they never dare
to look me in the eye

They say I'm bewitched,
a sinner, a sin,
but they don't see the tears
rolling down my chin

They say I'm the worst,
- not good - just bad in every way,
but they always hit first,
day after day

They say I'm the reason
for all of their pain
but they hurt me and hurt me
all over again

*

I've been torn down and broken,
my intentions remain unspoken

I'm turned into what I'm not,
my essence is left to rot

How can they be so cruel
to someone they refuse to know?

Don't they realize I duel
with their words etched in my Soul?

*

I will no longer howl in silence
- those days are passed and gone -

I won't turn to violence
- I am not their mindless pawn -

I'll turn to writing
- I'll document their every move -

But I won't go down without fighting
- I'll collect all the prove -

*

I'll show the world
who they really are,
I'll expose their every lie
I'll show the Court all my scars
I'll no longer hide

The Moon is my witness
of all the crimes I didn't commit
and the Sun will shine her light
on every hypocrite

*

Dear Court, I want to ask you
a question oh so small:
why bother solving crimes
when one person is hated by all?

Isn't it much easier
to blame that person instead?
Guilt doesn't even matter:
the whole village wants their head

So why search for the real culprit? Why waste your precious time?

Just throw a coin in the sky!
Tails means they're guilty;
heads: they committed the crime!

Dear Court, I'm said person,
just look at all my fur,
I'm not the kind of creature
anyone would prefer

When I realized what was happening,
I documented my every move,
I now lay down before you
all of my prove

I couldn't have done those things
they're blaming me for
- even if I wanted to -

They locked me up,
Look! Bolted windows and doors!

Tell me how on Earth I could escape these chains?
Yet the next morning, they came for me with their canes!

*

Dear Court, I've been done wrong,
but alone I don't stand strong

So if you hear me and understand,
make the real devils repent

*

All I want is justice
and to be able to start anew,
so I can finally heal
from what I've been through...
