Poetry: My View In Heaven

As time dragged on into the night,
I was faced with a house that looked just like mine.
However, coming from my window was a colourful light,
And somehow, I knew it was something benign.

So, I treaded out of my room, down the stairs and outside,
But I then stopped and stood still, frozen in awe.
Everything around was still, yet the wind sighed,
The sky above me was so magnificent it was all that I saw.

Galaxies swirl above me, as our own laced around the sky,
Stars and planets large enough to see their colours and icy rings.
I was drawn to this scene, but I couldn't understand why,
Bittersweet, beautiful but unreachable, wishing more than ever that I'd grow wings.

I wondered to myself as I marvelled at this scene,
Should I go tell my family, or will it disappear?
So, I rushed to tell them all, the sky's more beautiful than you've ever seen!
But when we looked back up, the stars had gone, and the sky was clear.

Then suddenly I was waking up, realising it was a dream,
Wondering, did this have meaning, or was it my unconscious's expression?
If not, then what was the point of what I'd just seen?
So, I hoped from that day on that that would be my view in Heaven.
